http://www.change.org/petitions/nfl-the-magazine-editorial-staff-remove-tim-The Golden Calf of Bristol-from-the-cover-of-the-nfl-the-magazine-inaugural-issue

I've already contacted Kevin LaForce (the VP in charge of the mag) and Roger Goodell through email, and LaForce is supposed to return my phone call later today. Be courteous, but insistent.

The petition doesn't mention Cam because getting rid of The Golden Calf of Bristol will be impetus enough to put Cam back on it, hopefully.

I care about this greatly because I ordered a two-year subscription based on receiving a collectors' edition of the inaugural issue with Cam on the cover, and this bait-and-switch infuriated me.

Are you a football fan or a teenage girl with a crush. Seriously, stop.

There are kids starving in Africa, homeless on the streets of every country, corruption in politics, and wars plaguing the globe...

But yeah like, this magazine thing is totes important

so why do you visit a football forum everyday? surely not the tinderbox, at least not only the tinderbox....people who only post in the tinderbox are kind of sad....since this is a football forum.

Why do you guys judge what is important to other people? He bought a subscription to the magazine thinking Cam was on the front. They changed it right before release, and he wants his money back.

You guys bitch constantly about the most trivial poo in the world (Why iz Naneeee Startingz!!!!11!!1) and then mock this guy? Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

another 'meh...' here.

doesn't really matter.

until panthers win games the dude's probably not going to be getting the respect many would like for him to receive.

The Golden Calf of Bristol is a hot topic right now because his team is winning right now.

once teams learn to score on their defense he will fall back into being an asterisk.

they win games because teams can't score on their defense.

cam's time will come.

I just personally think it's goofy to buy a subscription to a magazine for 1 issue because it has a dude you like on the cover. I don't subscribe to SI because Brooklyn decker was on the cover of their swimsuit edition.

just my take on it. in the grand scheme of things, it's not important.

Part of being a "fan" is doing things because you like the people or team behind it, not because there's any compelling reason to do so.

I am a longtime Carolina Panthers fan. I enjoy this team, and I am excited about players that play for it. Cam is one of the most extremely compelling players ever to where a Carolina uniform, and he could be one of those players that we all refer to in our later years as the face of the franchise.

I wanted the inaugural edition of the NFL's magazine to stand by it's advertising and put the player they said would be on the cover back on the cover.

i think they are more interested in advertisers than what they advertised.

they want to sell magazines and show that they can so they can get more advertisers.

dropping cam in lieu of The Golden Calf of Bristol is going to help it's # of sales and subscriptions more than it will hurt them.

it's only upsetting to The Golden Calf of Bristol haters, panther fans, and cam fans. to the rest of the world it's a non-issue.

Except The Golden Calf of Bristol only sells in the media's mind. Ever scan the majority of football forums? Fans could care less about him, whereas half the league's fanbases would give their right arms for Cam.

If they're going to attempt to lure advertisers, they went for the wrong guy.

i'm thinking you're a little biased here.

good or bad, The Golden Calf of Bristol is getting the hype and the attention right now. he was the right guy from a marketing and advertising perspective to put on the cover.

you put the guy on the cover that people are talking about. until the panthers start winning, cam is old news. it's always about the hot topic right at that moment.

google trends comparison for the last 30 days

newton was ahead heading into october, but The Golden Calf of Bristol passed him up and it hasn't really been close since.

    • He's 245lbs and ran a 4.5 at the combine several years ago. You can't teach size or speed so he's got those things going for him. If he has a decent work ethic and the coaches have a plan for him, he should be more than a camp body.
    • Great realistic draft, its missing a 5th the Viking one right or you used it to trade for JROd...I see.  Thomas is the 6th is one of those "autos" if there's no Cole Payton/QB.  I believe Parker is like christ, he can play all 5 OL spots if needed.  Crow is one of my targets for months, sometimes I can get with the 4th, but I think he is a solid 3rd rounder.
    • He does have luke-like traits, but ......ugh I hate to spend draft currency on the low valued ILB. Same bitachin I did about Dan traded up for brooks, he even pulled the classic " we had a 1st round grade on him"  Hell I rather see if Wallace finally learned how to get his body ready for a NFL season. Toss this in the pile too, Id be ok with Claudin Cherelus starting. I think Lloyd will elevate any player next to him and Claudin would break out, he's got the same health issues like Sanders.....he's climbing the mountain and pulls a hammy.  Plus since this a great and deep ILB group, the UDFA pool should have a few players that get overlooked.
