Atlanta versus Carolina: the good, the bad, and the ugly

The good- 1.5 Take away Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Johnson's scrambles and that's what the Bucs' running backs averaged per carry Sunday (22 carries, 33 yards). It will be tough to do that to Atlanta's Michael Turner.

The bad- 3 Times in a row Atlanta has beaten the Panthers, including 31-17 on Oct.16.

The ugly- 44.6 Newton's quarterback rating the first time he played the Falcons, when he threw for 237 yards and zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Good - Zero is the number of times Matt Ryan has had even a halfway decent game when I have played him on FF this year. I am playing him this Sunday. So we've got that going for us.

The thing with Atlanta is that they go completely flat during games and make a lot of mistakes. If we can keep turnovers to a minimum which we've done really well with recently...we could take this by a score or two

Cam is 4-0 when not committing a turnover, 0-8 when turning the ball over. Defense isn't good enough to overcome turnovers right now.

The never losing to a team with a losing record is crap. We beat Atlanta in 2009 at BOA 28-19 on November 15th and we were 3-5 at the time.

Falcons have lost plenty of back to back games over the past several years.

The Panthers haven't let Atlanta score 20 points at BOA in 2008 and 2009 before falling apart in 2010.

The Falcons are going to be derailed this week from the hunt.

It should be an entertaining game, I just think Carolina's defense won't be able to stop Atlanta's offense. Carolina's offense will move the ball and score, I just don't think it will be enough.

Truth is turnovers derailed us last time in Atlanta not a great Atlanta offense. Add two PI calls in the endzone and we handed the Falcons the game on a silver platter.

What most folks don't know is that the 2 DTS, Neblett and Kearse, starting this week are better than Fua and McClain who went on IR. We won't shut down Turner but he won't run wild either. Our defense has been suspect but we are actually improving while the Falcons will be without their normal secondary.

I don't think Atlanta will be able to stop the Panthers offense this time. I think the Atlanta offense will score points but I don't think it will be enough. The Falcons are a much better team at home than away. In their three road wins, they have beaten Seattle, Indy, and actually a good win in Detroit. They don't really have a history of playing well in BOA so I think the score will be reversed this time. Carolina 31-Atlanta 17.
