Smaug may not make such a large appearance till the 2nd movie. From the trailer, it looks like they'll focus on the beginning and the under the mountain stuff. I'm assuming the dragon and the war of the 5 armies or w/e will be the 2nd book.

I know it's going to be awesome though. Peter Jackson knows what is up.

I bet they don't reveal Smaug until it's necessary. Better dramatic effect. Keep it secret, keep it safe.
