Also keep in mind, that selecting Poe would give the Panthers a very very good foundation to switch to a 3-4 if they wanted to, which seems a definite possibility at times. NT is the most important position in a 3-4 def IMO, and we could have the next premier one in the nfl.

This.

With a gigantic yet athletic guy like Poe, he can command double teams at will, and will freely allow the defense to shift between 4-3 and 3-4.

A lot of teams like to 70/30 3-4/4-3 or vice versa. He would be great to have for just that.

Mayock has compared Poe to Ngata. If Poe can even come close to being like Ngata at DT (and his combine numbers are surreal for his size and he looked terrific in drills), how is he not an impact player? That's just ridiculous.

Was Raji somehow not an impact player in 2010 either? Maybe Suh isn't an impact player? Or maybe Kris Jenkins in his prime? That and as someone else stated, it would make it a lot easier to switch to a 3-4 defense.

Sometimes the biggest impact is just a really good football player.. no DL is worth #9 pick at this point.. they all have problems. I think Dre Kirkpatrick is a solid choice.. like to see how he runs tomorrow.

based on what?

Dude, no reason to be a jerk. He makes an impact because he doesnt wash out of the league in 2 years, and he and Kalil keep the center of the line out of Cams face so he can throw TD's.

it would be tremendously stupid and wasteful spend a top ten pick on a guard and that's why nobody's done it since 1997
