Rivera and Newton looking forward to next year

I like that Cam said 'fingers crossed might be the only time with the same offense for two years straight'.

This should certainly kill any idea that our offense would take a huge hit if Chud leaves. Cam has put together an amazing offense wherever he goes. Look at Auburn this year without him.

I hope Cam takes over the team like a Brady or a Brees'. Now that Rivera has pretty much told him this is his team now.
That's the direction it has to go considering his rookie year. Good thing he's got the valued vets on this team to guide him. He really doesn't have to carry the weight alone by any means.

I cant believe this year is over already.

2010 was like having your balls pounded with a sledge every weekend.

This year we actually saw talent, hope, and progress.

Hope next year comes as quickly as this year past.

I agree, this season was upon us then flew by. I drank to much to remember 2010 :D

I haven't been this excited about my Panthers in a while.

Hoping the Sophomore Slump doesn't creep into Cam. I think he is far too much of a leader for that to happen. MAN I think we're going to be dangerous next year!

Seems to me that once Newton is a vet and is accepted as the leader of the team, then he will step up and take ovnership of the teamparticularly when we get behind and things get tough. The biggest knock on him is that he gets down on himself when he screws up or the offense sputters. He needs to be exorting the defense and the offense to make a play and get a lead instead of sitting by himself with a towel over his head moping around.

I think that is what Rivera wants to happen and believes once he becomes a veteran instead of deferring to them like he did this year as a rookie, he will take more of an ownership for the team and its performance on both sides of the ball.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
