Question about coaching interviews

If he was smart instead of showing them the Panthers playbook which was designed to feature Newton, he would have designed plays for their respective quarterbacks. If you watch film of our offense you can get a good understanding of our playbook.

You do bring up a good point. Will Tampa Bay gain understanding of his philosophy and style of playcalling based on his interview there. And how much do these interviewees actually share with a divisional opponent. I wonder if Rivera and Hurney discuss that issue with him before he goes.

It looks like the Bucs have no intention of repeating their past hire (young, little experience). So, interviewing a young, possibly up and coming coordinator seems like it would be a waste of everyone's time and expense on the Bucs part.

So are they picking his brain to get ideas to help their QB and offense or are they learning something about a division rival? Does not look like he is a serious candidate for HC.

I'm sure the interview process is more about the problems that the Bucks are facing and not on any particular part of how the Panthers do things. Chud is one of the hot candidates now and to not bring him in would invite charges that they didn't look hard enough from a pretty upset fanbase right now. Sure it cost a plane ticket and a night or two at the hotel, but I'm sure they can spare it.

I also don't think Chud is ready for a HC position. He wasn't brought back for 2nd interview anywhere (the Jags thing was a typo) and hasn't impressed anybody as far as I could find. I'm hoping that by getting rejected a few times it will cool his heels. Chud will be a great HC in this league after he get's some more experience under his belt, but I think he's a few years from having the understanding he needs to make the transition.

The suggestion was that he was only being interviewed in order to pick his brain as a division rival and that they were not interested in considering him.

I don't find that to be a realistic scenario, do you?

That's a good point but I doubt they could learn anything that would result in a more-than-trivial advantage.

I doubt that Tampa would bring him in just to pick his brain but I think the reality is that they may pick up nuggets along the way they can use against the Panthers. Surely all of us have seen situations where a past coach of a team goes elsewhere and that coach always seems to do well against his former team. I would have to believe that it is surely possible that after picking a guys brain for hours dissecting his coaching style, philosophy, playcalling tendencies, etc you will learn something you can use against them when you play them twice a year. You don't think that if we played San Diego that Rivera would have an edge because he worked with Turner. Yeah I know 3 seasons is different than 4 hours but you get my point.

How would we know if he impressed or not?

I think Chudz went on the interviews because he was asked not because he was seeking.

There's a big difference between the 2.

I don't think Chudz was seeking a HC position this offseason.

      Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.

      Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
