you're right.

my mind was more fixed on why he didn't go pro last year.

Yeah, like I said, I think a lot had to do with the injury. He didn't want the surgery to scare teams off and probably thought it'd be best to return to school. Because if he came out, skills wise was up there with Prince and PP.

I mentioned it back in the last offseason, but I was hoping he'd declare for the supplemental draft and we'd use our #2 on him. That would have meant this draft's #2, which would have been a steal, plus he'd already have a year under his belt PLUS we wouldn't have had to watch Capt floundering against starting WRs all year.

Yep, I did as well.

If they pick him up, I won't be mad. But I'd rather get a DT or CB.

Dre Kirkpatrick wouldn't be bad either, I just think you build a D from the front back. Coples would be great on the strong side, with Johnson on the left, and then could slide into the tackle position on 3rd downs. Coples can be a game changer to me.

Completely disagree.

The top Defenses in the league are built from the front back. Getting pressure on the QB is the MOST important defense in the passing game.

SF, NYG, Baltimore, Steelers, etc... all had great defenses with marginal DB's.

In no way am I disagreeing with this at all. But all those teams u just mentioned have exceptional safety play to help over the top with those CB's. Polamalu, reed, antrelle rolle. It's not all about the front line. It's about how u have the talent spread throughout, and all those teams have talent all over d. Even in the secondary

Lol, that's what my post indicated and what I really said (minus the typo of leaving out "to" between "front" and "back". That's why Carolina should take Coples if he's there. Jacksonville could take him too.

I really think we should take a pass rusher if there is one there. In this league now you have to have elite pass rushers and a very good QB. It doesn't matter as much who is in our secondary if the panthers can not rush the passer. I am not sold on our D-line or Hardy at end. That being said it is most important in the draft to take the BPA and not just for need. For example Kalil we didn't need him when we drafted him but I think it worked out well for us.
