Can we afford any of the FAs on this list?

once they do some cap managing, yes.

would love to see us bring in michael griffin, carlos rodgers, jared gaither, evan mathis, and antonio garay. i don't think any of them would be incredibly expensive and all of them come with measured risks...griffin is kind of hit or miss, garay and rodgers are old (well, slightly north of 30), mathis has a history of injuries, gaither looks like an elite OT but he's got back issues.

those risks should keep their price fairly reasonable. i don't think that we would score all of them, but a couple of them could happen.

I would like John Abraham as a pass rusher, as long as it doesn't cost too much, same as meachem..

Now laron landry, if we could get him at the vet minimum and load it down with incentives id take him in a heartbeat.. the same way we did Thomas Davis.

A chance of the Dline on passing downs being Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy, Michael Brockers and John Abraham? what.. with Laron Landry and Charles Godfrey deep oh man..

But like i said all depends on prices

michael griffin would provide competition for Sherrod and give us a serviceable starter should Sherrod not make the leap

we will have a better DB coach that has a solid chemistry with the rest of the coaching staff and that fits the defense.

i think even martin should be improved from where he was last year.

There are a few guards and linebackers on that list we could try to land. Neither position is normally very costly.

Otherwise, probably not. With all due respect to the poster, a 34 year old Abraham is not a place we want to spend our limited resources. Give me someone in the 26 to 28 year old range for the DL or else address that in the draft.

The list will grow as teams start trimming cap money.I am trying to look at it as positions that will be hard to fill with the draft. The cb position is one I think we could address better in FA. If we do not draft a OT Jared Gaither would be a nice addition if Otah is history.

Why do you think CB is better addressed in FA? This draft class is outstanding at the CB position.

I would make 3 signings DTs Jason Jones and Garay as well as WR Donnie Avery. Jones is one of the best interior pass rushers in the league. The Titans played him out of position last year and that really hurt he market worth so he should come reasonably cheap. Garay is the other DT need a solid run stuffer that should also be reasonable. Thats a solid rotation with the young guys we already have there.

While I don't think WR is a major concern a true deep threat type receiver (Smith is still a beast but he aint what he use to be) could really help out Cam and our running game. Avery is a flyer no-risk high reward type pickup. He should be willing to sign for near league min (1 yr deal). Avery is a game-changing type receiver when he can stay healthy but injury concerns are a problem but considering the near nothing risk not much.

I see us getting some low-tier FA and that's about it. I know we have Edwards on the D-Line, but I read on one site or another about Red Bryant being a FA out of Seattle, and he is a huge guy that is still relatively young and could fill the run stuffer void if Edwards isn't looking like the answer. I'm sure he'd be a cheap pickup.

    • I don’t think we were watching the same game. Dalton’s passes weren’t on target either. Especially the 30 yard one that gave XL one third of his yards. The one he had to stop and come back for. XL just got more targets because Sauce was on TMac.
    • A starving dog is thankful for table scraps too.  Yes, the winning streak is nice, but going from bottom dwellers to mediocre still isn't the long term solution.  Enjoy the now, but don't lose sight of the future.  Some of us know this is not a model that can sustain us forever nor deliver us a championship.  Teams will eventually lock down our rushing attack.  Our defense will lapse periodically.  There will be a time where we need a QB to play 'hero ball'.  We don't have that type of QB on this roster.
    • He came off the bench he should have been in the game from the start, he was coming off a historic 2 game run you ride that momentum and see what happens. That rotating series b.s is just cute it's not how football is played and won. Chuba can spell Rico but why force 50-50 split when the production isnt split?
