2010 Panthers vs this years Bobcats

I'm gonna catch hell for this, but I still think it would be wise to re-brand the team as the Hornets (which would require purchasing the name from the NBA). The Hornets left under bad circumstances, but they are still loved in this town... I see much more Hornets gear then I do Bobcats gear around Charlotte. I think people would have a much easier time embracing a team in Charlotte called the Hornets, even if that team sucked as bad as the Bobcats do - just as a matter of nostalgia.

I completely agree with this. I live in Wilmington NC and even here there is more Charlotte Hornets gear than Bobcats. It seems odd but I fully believe rebranding the Bobcats as the Hornets would revive the fan base.

Micheal Jordan needs to give up anything and everything that has to do with drafting players, to running this organization all together. Just look pretty while you own the team mike, but don't stick your fingers in it. You're turning into Jerry Jones, don't be Jerry Mike...

I hope they get a high lottery draft pick and turn this franchise around next year, right now I haven't watched a bobcat game in forever. Not even Kemba Walker interests me in the least.

Unlike with football, basketball is a sport where only 8 teams have a shot at a title, and probably on 4-5 teams with a real shot. So maybe one day the Bobcats will be able to compete, but it's hard with basketball. With all that said, I am thoroughly entertained with Linsanity. So I haven't been paying attention to our Bobcats much this year.:D

Sad part is that I don't think

yeah you probably should have just ended this post there but

MJ is purposely tanking anything. He is just that inept at evaluating talent, making trades, adn drafting. Guy how no clue how to run an organization.

it won't get better any time soon.

yeah bro mj isn't purposefully tanking. he's just too stupid to see that gerald wallace and stephen jackson were the best players on a team that, if kept together, was destined to be the team that barely squeaks into the playoffs only to be throttled by the #1/#2 seed for the next 10 years

if you measure success by making the playoffs and having 4 blowouts tacked on to the end of your schedule then yeah, mj is a total failure for trying to change that.

kemba is alright and biyombo owns and this summer they'll be taking either drummond, davis, or barnes, all of which are legitimate nba prospects. and of course people like you will criticize him if the one he picks busts and refuse to give him any credit if the one he picks becomes a superstar

Oh yea, George shinn can eat poo and die for what he did to charlotte basketball.

For me, the NBA died when the Hornets left Charlotte. I was actually at the last-ever Hornets game in Charlotte Coliseum... oddly enough, it was my first Hornets game in Charlotte Coliseum. Freaking George Shinn...

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
