not sure who has been following this mock with james dator from catscratch reader picking for the panthers in a 7 round mock, but it's been interesting to see.

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/forums/showthread.php?18467-2012-Twitter-Mock-1.0

trades are allowed and dator isn't afraid to pull them off.

he traded back out of the 1st but through his trading with a couple teams wound up with a 1st round CB drafted last year and that had a ton of playtime with the jets (kyle wilson) and 3 second rounders.

here's the moves and picks he made:

round 1)

#PANTHERS send 9th, 105th, and FS Jordan Pugh for #JETS 2013 1st, 2012 47th, 78th picks and CB Kyle Wilson #NFPMOCK1

round 2)

1(33) - Carolina from St. Louis (2-14) - Alshon Jeffrey, WR, South Carolina

8(40) - Carolina (6-10) - Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson

15(47) - Carolina from New York Jets (8-8) - Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia

#Rams trade #33 to #Panthers for previously acquired NY Jets 2013 1st rd pick #NFPMOCK1

round 3)

14(78) - Carolina from New York Jets (8-8) - George Iloka, S, Boise State

round 4)

round 5)

8(136) - Carolina (6-10) - Terrell Manning,OLB, NC State

#Panthers have traded their 6th (170) and 7th (201) round pick, plus a 2013 6th round pick to the #Saints for 141 #NFPMOCK1

@NFPMockDraft Panthers trade this pick, 2013 5th round pick, 2013 7th round pick, QB Jimmy Clausen to Raiders for OT Joseph Barksdale

summary...we basically end up with

CB kyle wilson in the first (first round CB w/ year of experience)

alshon jeffery WR

brandon thompson DT

cam johnson DE

george iloka (FS)

terrell manning (OLB)

joseph barksdale (OT drafted in 3rd round last year w/ year of experience under his belt)

not bad, imo.

curious... what's bad about it?

we get a starting CB darrelle revis protégé

another solid WR(/TE) to add to our pretty talented receiving corps

a very good explosive pocket collapsing UT

a strong, smart, and instinctive DE that can help against the run

a big FS that can handle any TE in the game and could line up as an LB if needed or play CB

a quick, strong, and very underrated WLB

and a solid RT prospect with experience to compete for the job.

Dline and secondary is upgraded and we have another weapon for newton and another OT to compete for the RT job.

where is the flaw?

where is the flaw?

1. Kyle wilson hasn't proven anything to merit given up a top 10 pick for him.

2. You waste high pick on a WR/TE who will never see the field.

3. Brandon Thomas Sucks IMO. Clemson stop nobody this year.

4. FS won't beat out Martin and we lose Pugh.

5. The DE from VA is Ok I guess. I wouldn't pick him that high.

6. Dude from NC State is MEH!!

7. We really don't need another 5th, 6th, or 7th round oline pick. We have like 5 dudes coming back this year.

The hate on this board for Alshon Jeffery is unreal. He will be fine, and I would def. take him on the team for a 2nd.

And your ridiculous reasons for why you don't want a player are laughable, if your gonna say not to a player atleast give a good reason.

3 question

Is Jeffreys a number #1 wr or a #2?

Do we need a WR or Defense more?

What makes him Better then Lafell and Gettis?

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
