Ponder is not even better than Webb. So, its not out of the realm of possibility to see them go QB. Hell..why would guys draft Newton when you just drafted Clausen the year before..BECAUSE NEWTON WAS BETTER. I also wouldn't be surprised if Jacksonville makes a move up to get RG3 after watching Gabbert attempt to play QB last season.

Clausen was completely inept and everyone who watched his performances week in and week out knew that we desperately needed an upgrade and we got it in a BIG way. As pointed out by rayzor, Ponder showed promise for what he had to work with and given the circumstances. He's getting AP back and that should help him come along just fine. He's a cerebral QB and gifted athletically, get him a formidable WR option and a young-stud TE and you're going to see him progress this season.

No we drafted Cam because Jimmy was awful not because Cam was better. Anybody could have been better than Jimmy. Ponder's solid.

    • His completion % wasn’t even high.  Think OP misstated a stat.  Bryce was 30th this week in completion %.  The bottom is where he has been every year in the NFL in that department.   you gotta dig real deep in analytics to make a Bryce argument
    • Agreed.  Setting protections is one of the more difficult things for an NFL QB to learn but I did see a lot of improvement over the past year.  It's still an issue but getting better.  Reich hung him out to dry in that aspect and almost got him killed. Once Canales gave him a hot read or option for blitzes and pressure he did much better.  The more experience he gets the better he'll get.  That's also another good reason to keep a strong oline.  Mitigates that a little bit.
    • I'll just piggy back off what I said earlier here.    The problem with Bryce is and has always been his height combined with his arm. The reason he works so well ad-libbing is that he usually gets out of the pocket or allows the offensive line time to open throwing lanes which allows him to see the defense better, and manipulate the defense because of his legs which eliminates the need to read defense mostly.    The reason he doesn't work well in structure is because he can't make those reads at the line on what the defense is running and where to move protection, so he doesn't immediately know where to go with the ball based on coverages/ pressures so he runs the play exactly as it's called and goes through normal progressions 1-2-3.    He's gotten better at reading just based on Sundays game because he didn't nearly look as bad at it as he did last year and he didn't have AT to set lines and stuff for him.
