Draft day headache?

If we selected Richardson, Hurney better be reading a text message saying, "You're fired," by the time the old commish is finish saying "With the 9th pick in 2012 NFL draft, the Panthers select Trent Richardson,". That moment when the commish gets to "Trent Rich ..." should be about right for Hurney getting the "You're fuging fired,".

Its very possible that when it comes to our pick #9 that the Panthers front office is going to have a huge decision to make. Im curious what everyones opinion would be if it comes down to having these 4 players available which is certainly a HUGE possibility at this point especially with Tannehill picking up steam as a top 10 pick now.

1. Trent Richardson; Def. BPA, could allow us to let Stewart walk

2. Quentin Coples: The pass rusher weve been dreaming of since JPep

3. Michael Brockers: Kris Jenkins?

4. Devon Still/Melvin Ingram : Both will def. be available for us, which would u choose?

I know we need defensive help and badly, but if we really are going BPA how can they not take Richardson? This could be a big decision by Hurney, do they get a beast of a RB or do they take the D-Lineman we desperately need?

Let Stewart walk? You crazy or something. Panthers would never let him walk. Stewart right now would be worth a early 2nd round pick at best. Why let him walk it would be more wise to trade him instead for a second round pick at best. Besides I doubt he will be going anywhere. I"m sure Stewart will get a new contract before next offseason. But far as going for another RB in the first round. Not happening. We have other needs beside RB. We have 2 good ones right now.

Richardson would be a wasted pick.. and Stewart is already a known comodity... I want to stay away from Still and Ingram, so to me, it comes down to Coples and Brockers with those selections, and I would go with either one. Although I think Brockers allows us to be more flexable... but it may move Greg Hardy to a standup 3-4 type guy in our sub packages, and inside on passing downs... who knows. I would go with Brockers I guess.

I would add Jenkins to that list. He is probably a better talent than Claiborne, just had some off the field problems. We will get either Coples, Brockers, Reiff or Jenkins IMO. I actually think Reiff and Coples will be gone and we will have a choice between Brockers or Jenkins.

Hurney has already gone RB with our 1st round pick twice in a 3 year period. With the value he.places on that position it would not be a surprise.

0.0 chance Richardson will even be discussed. If he lands to them they would simply trade the pick and if no one wanted it they would draft someone else.

Carolina either drafts defense or moves up to get Blackmon. Need factored in last year w/ our 1st round pick.

Is it that hard to believe that the Panthers may have Trent Richardson higher on their draft board than Brockers or Coples? If it comes down to it I think Hurney is going to be fighting himself not to take his BPA. Richardson makes as much sense for the Panthers as Blackmon does.

Everyone wants Blackmon because Smitty might be gone soon, and it gets Cam another weapon. Richardson does the same thing except we don't have to overpay for Stewart, and we have a potential beast of a RB to go along with Cam for the next 8 years minimum ( so you hope ).

Giants didnt need a DLineman when they took JPP, but guess what Osi got hurt and then they did need him. Your never supposed to draft for need..it comes back to bite you.

Osi - was on IR all of 2008

Osi - missed 30% of 2009

They then drafted JPP in 2010.

also, Osi is a bitch. When they drafted JPP, Osi was an injury prone cry baby. I'd say it was a need.

I hope we go D as well . Just for shits and giggles what if we had someone lined up to give us a high 2nd rounder for Stew. Ok then?

(No one will trade for DWill's contract)

Richardson makes zero sense. We already have too many runners.

Blackmon makes more sense. We have an aging stud WR and it is a passing league. We finally have a franchise QB that will need a stud WR well after Smitty is gone.

We got RBs to last years to come and they are easy to find. WRs aren't easy to find as we have found out over the years.

Why would we draft a RB when we have 3 runners with over 100 carries for last season averaging over 5 YPC? Why play Richardson 2/3 of what Jstew would get in a new contract? Proven commodity is always better than unproven. Its more likely to pick blackmon than richardson due to the fact that you can play up 5 WR's on any given play. The most you can ever really play RB's is 2, but only one about 90% of the time. The reason the JPP pick worked even though they had tuck and Osi, is bc you always have 2 DE's on the field, and Tuck is easily able to play inside if the situation arises, making it possible for them to play 3 DE's at one time. Comparing the 2 situations(Richardson/JPP) isnt really relevant.
