you know....I blame Peppers

If he would just get the sand out of his V and sign the tender or the contract they offered him the team wouldn't have been forced into this move.

Pep is trying to do what's best for him, as we all would. To blame him is a little bit simplistic.

The origin of the entire situation lies with the FO.

Just accept it guys, Jake is going nowhere. He's our starter for the next 5 years. After that we'll probably extend him for another 5 years. We'll get him out on the field in one of those old person scooter things if we have to. He got us to the superbowl in 2003 and he'll get us there again! We're not giving up on you Jake!

what exactly would be best for him??

Becoming the highest paid defensive player in the game??? Check, the contract they offered him would have made him that

Being part of a winning team??? Check, 12-4 last year...even with his half-a$$ed effort in some games

Being a leader on a team with a solid reputation??? Check Jerry handed him the keys to the franchise once minter and rucker were gone

Being used in a multitude of ways?? Check... the only position on defense he hasn't lined up are corner, safety and MLB

In all liklihood the only reason we are in the situation we are in is because Peppers wasn't smart enough to keep his idiot agent on a short enough leash.

    • His size will always limit him.  Do t kid yourself
    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
