Article: Nfl Has It's Version Of Micheal Jordan In Newton

Recommended Posts

Gah, Bleacher Report.

And for the record, Jordan wasn't Jordan until he started winning.

Not quite sure that is 100% accurate. Jordan sold like 100 million shoes when they released the first Air Jordans long before he won anything significant (besides an olympic gold medal). And unless you are talking about championships he went to the playoffs every year he played so he won from day 1 basically.

Titles made Jordan who he ultimately is today.

That said--Cam has won more to this point in his career than Jordan did dating back to college and his rookie year.

Jordan won a NC in college and actually went to the playoffs his rookie year. So I am not sure I agree with that either :o

Nah, a lot of people saw him as a flawed scorer and he was pretty disliked by other players (including the "freeze out" in the all-star game). He went to the playoffs every year because everybody goes to the playoffs in the NBA. I don't think he got over .500 in his first 3 seasons and got knocked out in the first round.

I don't think he sold 100 million shoes his rookie year, but I'm not a big shoe guy.

Yeah, that isn't true. Jordan had NCAA championship. Jordan was bigger than Cam is now after a year in professional sports.....much bigger.

the freeze out was no different than Cam being the only QB to be roughed up in a Pro Bowl game....since when....dinosaurs roamed the Earth?

Cam ain't in Jordan's league yet. Not comparing year 1 to year 1 in the books. Jordan was more dominate and just bigger in general.

Jordan was pretty huge even before he won all his rings... they made Jordan the legend he is today (people have called him the best player ever to play any sport, whatever that means), but he basically entered the league and was immediately one of the best players in the game at a time the league was STOCKED with talent. He wasn't JUST a scorer, he was also a good defender, and while you are right they lost early in the playoffs, they were playing the Celtics early on, and later the Pistons, and he was the only reason that team was anywhere at all.

I don't think Cam is in Jordan's league yet... but I'll look forward to when he is.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
