The curse has affected every cover subject since 1999 to some degree: a broken ankle that kept 1999 cover subject Garrison Hearst out for two seasons, 2004 Michael Vick breaking his leg and later being convicted in a dogfighting scheme, and 2008′s Vince Young quickly falling out of favor with his coach and fans.- from an inferior site

You can find a negative aspect of every players game following a good season.

Brees and Troy P both had good seasons on the cover and so did there teams.

The only bad thing to happen to Brees after he was on the cover was a lot of INT's, not injury.

That doesn't change what the Madden Curse is. It has always been about the player on the cover getting injuried that year. Personally I don't believe in that sort of thing but, it does have a strong track record.

No one has been impacted by the injury curse for a several years now.....

They are just random NFL injuries.....like Beason, Smitty, Jake etc all have seen. Play the game and eventually you get injured. Sometimes that injury occurs to the guy in the cover.....most often it doesn't

Hillis was more a contract issue than anything....he was trying to manipulate the browns.

Young started 15 games and went 9-6 in his starts. Played like a sophomore QB who teams studied....and Tenn still went to the postseason. Not sure how that is a Madden Curse.

Vick broke his leg....poo happens. Ask all the Panthers who never made a cover

2011: New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Had a strong season individually, but the Saints were upset by the Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs and failed to defend their Super Bowl title.

How many teams repeat as SB champs? Brees had a good season. This fails as an argument for the curse. Moving on

2010: Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu/ Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Polamalu only played five games because on lingering knee injures and the Steelers missed the playoffs a year after winning the Super Bowl. Fitzgerald still hada strong season, collecting over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

So Fitz had a great season, seemed as though the curse skipped right over him. Thats not how this curse is supposed to work. They dont 'skip' over people. Failed argument, moving on.

2009: Brett Favre. He was traded to the New York Jets after an off-season battle with the Green Bay Packers, following his retirement, then un-retirement. He started strong, but faded down the stretch and the Jets failed to make the playoffs. His final three seasons were inconsistent and he also went through off-the-field issues.

Hm, so an aging QB doesnt play like he did when he was young? Thats not a curse bub, thats Father Time. Failed argument for a curse. Moving on.

2008: Tennessee Titans running back Vince Young. He led the Titans to their first playoff appearance in four years, but has fallen out of favor with the franchise since that season. The organization plans to cut or trade Young once the lockout is lifted.

A QB with known character issues falls out of favor with fans and mgmt? Well darn it, who the hell saw that coming? Again, failed argument for a curse. Moving on.

2007: Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander. A fractured foot hobbled Alexander, the reigning MVP, throughout the season and he missed six games. His production declined and he never returned to his MVP-form.

An aging RB who sees their body and production decline? See 'Father Time' comment above. Once again, failed argument. Moving on.

2006: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. He missed seven games during the season after dealing with a sports hernia. He failed to make the Pro-Bowl for the first time in five seasons and has not been invited since. McNabb also battled with wideout Terrell Owens throughout the season.

Again, comes back to age. D. Mcnabb was on the back end of his career by the time he got the cover. VERY few athletes perform as well once they hit this spot. Ill say it again, failed attempt at an argument for the "curse" moving on.

2005: Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. A broken wrist caused him to miss one game during the season, and it was also his first year without an interception.

Thats it? Thats the best you got? Ray Lewis missed one game and didn't have an interception? Dude had 146 tackles which is more than he has had since. Mr Lewis was ALSO, on the back end of his career by the time he hit the cover. You lose again. Moving on.

2004: Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. He broke his leg in a pre-season game one day after the game was released and missed 11 games that season. He then had a few off-the-field issues in the years that followed

Yea, i guess you could say Mike Vick was cursed. He broke his leg scrambling all over the back field instead of keeping his eyes downfield to find the open receiver the way a QB should. It was also that curse that made him and a society of others feel that fighting dogs is a truly acceptable past time. I guess ill concede this one. Oh no, you suck again.

2003: St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk. He was hampered by an ankle injury all season, and failed to match his production from previous seasons. His decline started after appearing on the Madden cover and he never rushed for 1,000 yards again

Man, I'm seeing a pattern here. It appears that the Madden curse makes an aging players body begin to deteriorate. Hmmm. Now I'm no Dr, but i was under the impression that as the body ages, it begins to lose some of its functionality. Bones become a bit weaker, reflexes begin to slow, etc. Hm and here i was the whole time thinking thats just how the human body works, but nope. Its black magic. Neat. Moving on.

2002: Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper. Struggled all season, and had his season cut short with knee surgery after 11 games. The Vikings were 4-7 at that point.

A football player struggling and or getting injured. What a RARE occurrence. Moving on.

2001: Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George. He had a great season, but fumbled at a clutch point in the playoffs, which led to the top-seeded Titans losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the first round.

So fumbling or missing a dropped pass is the result of a curse? I didn't realize Wes Welker was on the cover of Madden last year. That has to explain why he dropped that pass in the SB. A curse. Also, and you can say it with me, Eddie George was on the tail end of his career.

2000: Detroit running back Barry Sanders. He unexpectedly retired one week before training came by sending a fax to the team.

So he decided he no longer wanted to play football any more? A curse caused him to decide he no longer wanted to take excessive amounts of physical punishment on a daily basis? A curse caused him to walk away while he still could, physically, walk away. That damn curse.

Also, the Saints bounced back on the field in 2011-12 season, but now have the Bountygate scandal. It always seems to last two years.

Oh that ones easy. The Saints have always been a dirty rotten ass team. Cheating, lying, etc etc. They are much better off in the basement where they belong. The universe understands that and is now doing something about it. Thats not a curse, thats just karma.

It appears we can break this curse down to AGE and the inability to top what tends to be a career season. Guess what, those factors tend to hit quite a few athletes.

Curses are easy though. Its easy for simple minded fools, such as Saints* fans and Falcons fans to understand why their team sucks holy hell. Just blame it on an external, supernatural force instead of logic. Altho, to be fair, the Saints* do seem to have it rough, but i dont think thats a curse. God just hates you people.

2010, Fitzgerald & Polamalu Polamalu sprained hisMCL in the first half of the season opener and missed the next four games. After returning, Polamalu played in three more games before injuring his PCL on November 14, 2009 against Cincinnati, and missed more games as a result. Fitzgerald, on the other hand, started all 16 regular season and both playoff games for the Cardinals. He did not attend the Pro Bowl due to a rib injury.

Hillis has missed five games in 2011 with a hamstring injury, missed one game with strep throat and suffered a re-injury to his hamstring during practice before week nine and his outlook to finish this season with numbers equivalent to his previous year's performance is looking bleak.

2005 Ray Lewis wrist injury

2006 McNabb tore his ACL and meniscus in his right knee

2007 Alexander foot injury that caused him to miss six starts and whom ever else. I'm not saying that ijuries don't happen to players who aren't on the cover and confused as to why you even made the statement, nor am I saying that I believe the curse or in anything of any relation. Call it coincidence or what have you, it is what it is!

I just don't get if all you "smart people" don't beleive in curses, the history is out there and it all points to a CURSE! If you want Cam to get hurt next year then by all means vote for him just so you are sooooo happy to see a Panther on the cover. You will not be happy when he either......

A. Has a horriffic season/career or

B. Gets seriously injured

You are all selfish as fug and dumb as fug IMO
