I'm In Atlanta And Have Been Asking Everyone's Opinion Of Cam

what??

also i would have assumed the majority of CFB fans in atlanta were GT fans

Yes, I know plenty of people who live in the A-T-L that love Cam, despite the fact that they are either Georgia Alums and.or Falcon fans. My friend from East Point, who is first and foremost a Falcons fan, is a Cam Newton fan. He is acquaintances with Cam's dad (No, he doesn't know Cam). Of course he roots for his team when they play the Panthers, but he roots for Cam otherwise, and also likes Smitty.

In reference to GA Tech, I really don't know. The only thing I can tell you is that there are more Georgia fans overall, and that representation in the Atlanta metro area is not lacking. Personally, I see more Georgia flags than anything in that area, Tech doesn't seem to have the following. SEC football is everything in the Deep South.

I was in ATL for a game in 2005. In the first quarter they were talking trash and telling us we sucked. Then Deshaun Foster broke a 70 yard TD and some of them left. I went into the restroom at halftime with a 20 point lead and they tried to jump me but by then there was more Panthers fans in the stadium than Falcons fans and Panther nation had my back. They are just a wretched city of losers. This is the greatest three year stretch in the history of the Falcons and they haven't won a playoff game. Just wait until the Falcons struggle, they will turn into Bulldog fans.

What exactly happened? "Hey Panther boy put down that toilet paper we gon beat yo ass."

I have been in Viginia Highlands for the most part while I have been here.

I was talking to a table of people, and these guys were saying, "we don't like cam because he basically gets in front of the media and calls out his own team, and pouts on camera, etc...."

My response was, tell me one specific time when he actually called anyone out....and that his philosophy going into games was completely different than the Fox era, where "it is what it is" if you lost a game. RR is weeding those negative losers out of our organization and changing the philosophy to a winning philosophy.

But yeah, it's Marty ice this, Matty ice that...I am not a big poo talker like some people, I enjoy a civilized conversation amongst educated adults ( but atl is not really known for having this type of people)

This ain't about Georgia. Georgia is in Athens, not Atlanta.

OH REALLY? Wowwwwwww... I didn't know that.

I went to Georgia. My friends went to Georgia. One of my best friends who is from East Point went to Georgia. My niece who is from Riverdale went to Georgia. We all love Cam Newton.

The OP must have talked to people up in Cobb County.

And the majority of UGA fans despise Cam Newton because he kicked their butt (though the UGA ballerinas despise Nick Fairley even more).

And the metro Atlanta area is comprised primarily of UGA fans. Yes, there are many small pockets that may not be, but overall? Yes... mostly UGA.

And the majority of those despise Cam and are jealous of his success.

Well, perhaps it's a generational thing. My friends and I are in our mid 40s. My niece is 26. We have had the opportunity to mature to a point to realize that life doesn't begin and end with divisional rivalries (but we were always mature like that, really). Even as an NFL fan, you gotta know that teams are comprised of college rivals, and that the sport transcends collegiate allegiances.

I forgive Cam for being a product of Auburn...Could be worse: he could be a gator

LOL!

Yeah... it could be generational. I'm knocking on my fifth decades door and, like you, I can appreciate UGA's good players. Have a world of respect for players like David Greene and D.J Shockley.

Oh, and my man Herschel who I got to see play on the field while I was at Auburn. Second best running back I've ever seen. B)

Could also be not only generational but social... I know the red-neck snuff-dippin' sidewalk portion of the UGA fan base hates them some Cam Newton.

How did Pep make people feel when he left NC for Chicago? Not the same because we actually did draft him, and Cam had no say... But, he grew up there and now plays for a division rival and has been referred to as potentially becoming the "Michael Jordan of football." (Bold Italics by Cape Fear Cat)

I'd be mad too. F*ck em.

I'm with you...but I think Cam has more potential than Pep does to become the MJ of Football, unless I misread your statement.

No you had it right, I was referring to Cam... It was poorly worded as I wrote it while I was heavily distracted, lol.
