Stephon Gilmore A True Option

That ECU game he played Man to man, he got torched a bit... Just saying.

Had Gilmore been great at ANYTHING he would have been a shoe in for the first round with his size, speed, and PRODUCTION. imo

The combine brought to surface his very nice measurable's, which has propelled him into the first round.

I dont follow the gamecocks, but I think its safe to say he was never a GREAT college CB.

Dash you dont watch the SEC and are making firm judgements...Im confused. i will not pretend to have seen Mychael Kendricks since I havent watched a down of ucla football in the last three yrs.

Ahh wait ... Such is the message board world.... I almost wanted real reasons from why you think he is not great at something.

He did have uneven moments..but he is an agressive tackler and has great ball skills to convert some pick 6s. His size, agility, and speed are rare and is worth a serious look. Dre Kirpatrick is a bump and run guy and struggles to turn and run.

Id expect Hogan to win the 2 spot and have either Dre or Gilmore learn if we went cb so either way..and Kirpatrick will be a good FS.

Funny that people say that Gilmore can't cover man-to-man and is only gonna work in a zone-scheme considering the fact that he's not very good in a zone and is great in man-to-man.

I thought USC ran mostly zone. Every time I watch gilmores highlights he is in zone. I've heard many different opinions on this but to me he looks like a zone guy. Id rather we take Kirkpatrick. Bama runs all man.

Not sure id call it "firm judgement". Rather just common sense.

Had Gilmore been an shut down CB in college WITH his measurable's (6ft+ 4.4 speed ect) he would have been a bonifide 1st round draft pick PRIOR to the combine.

Maybe im off here.... but a good part of the Gilmore hype is due to his combine numbers and not his college career.

One of my best friends is a die hard gamecock fan and he is indeferent about Gilmore saying he got burnt and was rather inconsistent.

Psst...Kirpatrick played a ton of zone. A Saban staple. Gilmore playes in a weird 3-3-5 defense. He was projected a first rounder than had an ok year so dropped to a late first early second and then is getting the hype bc his measurables are through the roof.

It seems no one viewed the video associated with the article where Lombardi breaks down both players.

Kirpatrick never shut down anyone either.. He made tackles and he is tall.

    • KP is not a straight up carbon copy but they look awful close to me.  T
    • You are right. At the same time I don’t think people are watching games going come on Bryce put it on the ground or sail it OB or whatever. They just have trouble seeing him turning his 3 or four or five top games of 2025 into the weekly standard outing. Which you expect for the kind of money he will ask for (speaking for myself anyway).
    • In terms of comparing Pickett and Young's arm talent it's basically a push at best. Pickett is sitting at 6.2 yards per pass attempt for his career while Bryce sits at 6.0 Last season Bryce was 6.3 in yards per pass attempt. Only Justin Fields Spencer Rattler (both 6.2) Kyler Murray (6.0) 41 year old Joe Flacco (6.0) 44 year old Phillip Rivers (5.9) rookie Cam Ward (5.9) and Tyrod Taylor (5.8) had less pass yards per attempt than Bryce Young in his third season as a starter. Folks going around acting as if it is beyond the pale to say Pickett might have a better arm than Young are living in an alternate reality. You can choose to not believe your own eyes after 46 games but everyone else will acknowledge reality and move forward accordingly.
