A Question From A Daydream Scenario

Recently, I've looked at some highlights from David DeCastro such as this one.....

..and the boy can ball!

So this got me thinking. Firstly, the first part of this scenario is a daydream, because it's not likely to happen. So don't flame me concerning it, I really want to hear honest opinions when it comes to the question. (Not necessarily opinions about the daydream part of it, only if the daydream part of it comes to past, would you consider doing what my question is about to ask.)

Here's the scenario......

Both the Vikings and the Rams pass on Matt Kalil, and he falls to our number nine spot. Now here's the question. Would you consider trading back up to the 10th spot, to draft David DeCastro? Is that O-line overkill? B)

My answer would be yes, and I would offer this year's 2nd, and next year's 1st + 3rd. The major problem with this is obvious, it means less draft picks to improve our defense. Yet the major problem with defense last year was the injuries to our linebacking core. (We essentially only had one linebacker on the field in James Anderson) So I would be putting all my eggs in the one basket with Beason returning back to full health, and finding a good linebacker in the later rounds of the draft if TD can't go. I feel we got good competition in the safety ranks in free agency. (Nakamura and Reggie Smith. Possibly Reggie Smith could be moved to corner as well)

So again, if Kalil were to drop to us, would you trade back up to the 10th spot and draft DeCastro?

So my draft would be a little something like this.....

9th pick: Matt Kalil

10th pick: David DeCastro

4th round pick: Josh Norman

5th round pick: Miles Burris (I believe it was Thomas Daivs who said we are going to blitz a lot)

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
