Lets see, so far.....

-Big space eating gap stuffing defensive lineman: Kemoaoteu, check.

-Other DT that's an athlete, fly to the ball guy, disruptive pass rusher: Corey Irvin? Definetly experienced in the best football college conference. hmmm...

-Ends that are super athletic, speedy off the ends: Everette Brown, check.

Peppers if he stays, check. If Peppers goes, Charles Johnson? Showed promise though lacked playing time. hmmm....

-Speedy assasin linebackers that are the heart and soul of the cover two: Beason, double check. Thomas Davis, definetly. Nail Diggs? hmmm... The guy from Penn State that may replace him? well....

-Physical corners: Gamble, check. Richard Marshall? hmmm....the Troy State rookie? Maybe, he showed promise in college

-Fly to the ball, excellent in space hard hitting safeties: Chris Harris, double check. Godfrey? maybe......

How many more players do we need?

It's Corvey. I don't know, we didn't have him high on our board, for that matter not a lot of people did at all, but lets see what the kid can do. Kemoeatu stays where he is because he helps keep Beason free, but I still think they bring another guy in through free agency. It's going to have to be a real inexpensive option.

The age where largish bull-rushing 4-3 DEs dominated the landscape is over, and more and more smaller pass-rushers with speed on their side are coming out of college. Everette Brown, who I think should bulk up to no more than 265, if he should at all, has adequate size as it is at 255. Driving the Tackle back isn't his game, it's making these big guys tired trying to contain him on the edge.

-Speedy assasin linebackers that are the heart and soul of the cover two: Beason, double check. Thomas Davis, definetly. Nail Diggs? hmmm... The guy from Penn State that may replace him? well....

Dan Connor is not a SLB. Which is sad, because it sucks to see him stagnate here, it's almost like how Bobby Carpenter is just fermenting in Dallas. They're sticking with Diggs, which is fine for now. Beason has enough range to compensate and Davis has come into his own at WLB.

-Physical corners: Gamble, check. Richard Marshall? hmmm....the Troy State rookie? Maybe, he showed promise in college

I always thought Gamble as more of an athletic corner. The cover 2 isn't so much about being physical because it is a zone defense. It's more about being aggressive, and we will need to be aggressive in order to make it work.

-Fly to the ball, excellent in space hard hitting safeties: Chris Harris, double check. Godfrey? maybe......

At least Godfrey's now got a year under his belt. Safety almost seemed kind of like a stranger to him last year, even though he did pretty well, now he has to really come into his own.

How many more players do we need?

if the FO resigns lucas for a vet min, that would be one of the best off-season moves yet. i would still argue marshall should start- stick lucas at the nickel and the rook can come in on the dime and learn under the vets.

    • Bryce is like Jerry Seinfeld.  Bad jokes, very limited on screen charisma, and a bad actor.  But they surrounded him with the greatest supporting cast of all time (writing included) and you can name the show after the guy.  Unfortunately QB does not work that way.
    • I just feel like TE is an excuse to the BPA rule, unless you really just have NOBODY at TE, which I personally don't feel is the case for us with the 3 we have right now. Even if you were to say a TE was our actual top ranked player on the board when our 1st round pick is on the clock, I can't see it being such a big gap between him and players at positions of more of a need to where it's then a dumb decision to not take the highest ranked player left on the board. Because yes, a game changing TE can really change your team, but at the same time, it also is the least important position in today's game, since realistically the best TEs are really just big WRs these days anyways, so if you have a good enough WR (and RB) room, TE becomes less of a need. I also think if Coker and Horn Jr pan out, XL could be used in more of a TE type of role where we line him up in the slot and hope to get favorable matchups against smaller DBs or slower LBs.
