Pro Bowl Game Likely To Be Stopped

Many players who will be selected during the league's NFL draft are regarded as future Pro Bowlers but the Pro Bowl game itself likely will be suspended this season and beyond, according to league sources.

The Pro Bowl currently is on the NFL's calendar the week before the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Feb. 3 but no game site has been listed because of its precarious status, sources added.

Sources say that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who has previously voiced his displeasure with the lack of competitiveness of recent Pro Bowl games, is strongly considering suspending this year's game, sources say.

I have no real problem if the Pro Bowl goes away. It's really not entertaining for fans, and the players look at the game as a chore more than a privilege. Thoughts on Cam being a one time Pro Bowler?

Perfectly fine with him being a one time Pro Bowler. Pro Bowl sucks anyways. Besides, I'd rather him playing the week after anways.

After the last one I can't say I really care.

I actually liked the Pro Bowl. It was kind of fun to get to see Panthers players play in another game after the regular season was over because, let's face it, we haven't really seen a lot of them in the playoffs lately. Plus the gadget plays and basketball scores could be entertaining.

The most recent one was just awful, though. Also I wonder what's going to happen with contracts that have Pro Bowl appearances as an incentive. It'd be kind of pointless to be voted into a game that won't actually be played.

I would think so. The two weeks has been going on longer than the Pro Bowl being played in the gap.

I don't think I've ever watched a Pro Bowl.

Select the Pro Bowlers, then just send 'em to Hawaii for the weekend to have fun. The media can write up the bar fights instead of the boring game.

They cant just do away with it all together. Too many players have contract incentives to make the Pro Bowl and that would cause all kinds of problems for teams if they had to deal with reworking those contracts.

There will have to be something even if its just a free trip and a skills competition.

Not a really a surprise here. They should have just kept the skills competition or if they have still have it they should have at least aired it on television again. The guys actually competed in the skills competition because there was essentially a slim to none chance of them getting injured.

Youre right and it something that I considered before I replied so I cant argue on any specific point. They can do it if they want and the reason I said they couldnt was just flat out wrong.
