Since our first round pick was announced, some have been thinking (and posting) "Does this mean 3-4? If not a complete shift, at least more looks?" This article briefly explains some other options. I thought it was a good read.

Good read. I think they made a great point about McClain and Fua. Yes, they looked bad last year. But they were rookies without much of an offseason at a position not too easy to learn. We have youth and depth at DT, but not on the O-Line. I loved our first two picks in this draft.

Very good read. I was never a fan of drafting Kuechly. But yesterday I came to the conclusion that he was the best option. I think as long as we can consistently utilize him and Beason on the field at the same time I have no problem and think the d will be much better off

I think this is an evaluation year for this D. See who is healthy, see who can play, then address those needs next year. Rome was built in 3 seasons.

I could see some 4-4 and 46 looks as situational type defenses, but you're not going to see those looks much in this division. Our division is loaded with QB and WR talent where as the 4-4 and 46 are largely run stuffing biased defensive looks.

Guys like Drew Brees and Matt Ryan are going to audible out and take a shot if they see a look like this, especially if it's Charles "Always Out of Position" Godrey or Sherrod "Sum of All Fears" Martin playing the deep safety role. If you're going to give a 4-4 or 46 look, you need a GREAT safety back there who knows what the hell he's doing and can read a play. If that guy screws it up, you have a great chance to give up a big play.
