Thomas Davis Will Return

The nice thing about taking Kuechly is it allows us to use TD situationally. He can occasionally come in on passing downs and perhaps blitzes.

I don't expect him to make it through the year even as a part-timer, but I'm glad we are giving him the chance.

Beason said that despite Davis' injuries, he currently cannot keep up with him in running drills. FYI.

Athletes never say ANYTHING because every time they open their mouths they're saying what they're supposed to say, therefore, I don't care what they say, because they can't be critical.

Beason is coming back from blowing out an achilles. Maybe that has something to do with it? Could he ever keep up with TD? Can they keep up with everyone else in running drills, or have they both lost a step? Do they feel any pain afterwards? Is it just going to snap or tear again in a game...who knows?

Again, what he said was just that. An athlete talking like an athlete and not saying anything that tells you anything.

i think he can make it through a season if we use him sparingly.

Thats the thing with ACL. There is an equal chance on every play something goes wrong. Its not a wear and tear kind of thing as much as it is a freak turn of the knee at the wrong moment and snap.

I know, been there, it sucks. Talked to TD right before he had his latest reconstruction. Nothing of great detail just sharing surgery stories. I hope he can make it. Hell of a nice dude. Great for the city and the team.

eta: now that I dont play contact sports any more if it tore again no way in hell I'd have it repaired. plus I'm getting older, was a young man that go around. It felt so strong with the rehab before they cut on it. knee just wouldnt stay in place if it was bumped.

The fact that the Panthers will give him every opportunity to get back onto the field isn't even worth reporting because it's self-evident. He's under contract, having restructured as an accommodation to the team, and he'll get every possible chance to perform.

But the team isn't counting on having him on the field, much less as a starter. Are they pulling for him? Absolutely. Will he have a roster spot if he can't play well enough to help the team? Nope.

I'd like to see Rivera try something inovative with TD. Have him lose 10 lbs and get into the high 220s to low 230s and use him in a big nickel/dime sub-packages covering TE/RBs and blitzing. He would probaly be on the field almost as much as a starting LB and it would help keep OL off his legs. So many teams are now using 2 TEs that using S instead of CBs in these packages makes more sense.

ACL allows for straight ahead running. We were at the practice when he hurt it the second time. He walked off without a limp.

Davis played some hard hitting Safety at Georgia, 6'1" , 230 in College, Panthers have him listed at 240 so he isn't going to slim much if any.

The fact is that most ACL tears are just freak accidents. His 2nd tear was him pushing to come back to fast but the 3rd was was just a combination of poor DTs and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think the big question is how much scar tissue is in there and how well he rehabbed it.
