Saw them in Greensboro last month- it was laughable. I watched this band come of age in Los Angeles back in the day. Even saw them do a couple high school gigs inthe early 70's.

But now they have officially become a joke.

Saw them opening night in Charlotte a few years ago, sound was terrible where I was. DLR looked like a monkey in that suit, holding a tin cup out for spare change.

My friends who saw them this time around seemed to think they did a good job - at least Eddie had it all together...

I was never really a fan of the catchy commercial hard rock than emerged in the 80's, but Van Halen had a couple good songs. They died long ago, like most of their sister bands GnR, ACDC, etc.

Some of the greatest guitar work the planet has ever seen.

Not too surprising though, not many bands survive through the decades.

they became a joke with sammy and him leaving didn't help like it should have. david lee roth became a joke all on his own.

it made/makes sense that they would finish out their careers together.

michael anthony getting the boot was probably the best thing that could have happened to him cause right now that stuff he's doing with chickenfoot is a whole lot more interesting than anything van halen has done in over 15 years (in spite of the fact that they have hagar as the frontman).
