Saints** Believe They Deserve Extra Credit This Year So They Can Sign Brees

According to SI's Peter King, the Saints** "feel they should be credited for taking a medical risk" on unsigned franchise player Drew Brees in 2006.

With the sides mired in contract stalemate, the Saints** apparently believe they deserve a break for being the only team willing to give Brees $10 million per season as he was coming off shoulder surgery in 2006. That line of thinking is unlikely to move a player who hasn't missed a game with injury in six seasons in New Orleans.

Hahahahhahahahahahahahah...

Maybe I'm misinterpreting since there isn't a link, but what does that have to do with them saying they deserve more cap space to sign Brees? I think what the author is saying is that the Saints* think Brees should take less money because they took on a bigger risk in 2006. Either way it's dumb on their part since he vastly outplayed his contract, but the thread title is misleading.

They asking for cap space credit from what I understand (some teams got cap space credit this year). Saints* done restructuring every contract they possibly could and they cannot afford to sign Brees still. So they asking NFL for a credit so when they sign Brees, they could apply this credit against his total hit for this year. Example: if Brees new contract to account $15m against cap, they asking for $3m credit so Brees contract will account for only $12m instead of $15.

Okay. Shouldn't have been signing lbs in fa

or high priced guards....Cake an eat it too. We are entitled to all the capspace we need! We are the Saints*, help us! How many times are they going to bite the hand that feeds? That team is precious lmao.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
