No Anthony Davis For Charlotte, Now What?

The dream is dead. This team is as low in the NBA food chain as you can get. Aside from a total makeover and name change (If Benson makes it so) how is MJ going to save this franchise?

Anthony Davis would have covered up some of the fundamental flaws this team has (no superstar) but now they have to make this #2 pick. Who should it be?

I'm still in the Drummond camp since we still need a center. Beal isn't better than Hendo nor is MKG. We have plenty of bodies at PF so Robinson isn't a need.

I'd hate to be MJ this week. It's put up or shut up time. He may have to pay for the only thing(Hornets nickname) that may jump start this flat lining franchise. Is he willing to cut the check?

that's basically like taking May and Felton. But I do think Marshall is better than Felton

Maybe but Drummond and Marshall are much better than May/Felton.

Drummond is boom/bust with high risk reward. Marshall may be one if the best PG that came out of UNC. I believe he will be better than Ty Lawson.

I don't know if I'd take a shot on Marshall. I'm a UNC fan myself, but i feel he's too slow to guard a majority of the PGs in the NBA. I also don't think he'll be better than Lawson. Lawson is about to be a star in the league. Everything is starting to click for him

This garbage is hilarious. Prior to the tournament, it wasn't even a slam dunk that Anthony Davis was going to be the first overall pick in his own draft class and now people are acting like we missed out on LeBron or Durant. It makes zero sense. Not saying that Davis will not be a good professional, he will, but don't act like he's a game changer when we don't even know if dude can score at the next level with any kind of consistency. The gap between picks 1, 2, and 3 are razor thin. We're going to get a damn good player regardless.

All we can do now is wait. Cho has proven to be a methodical GM that has drafted very well and can put together steals in trades.

@Vagrant is right in that Davis had a bullish stock in the last few months. Remember, not too long ago there was a 'Suck for Drummond' thread. Then he kind of disappeared. There really is no right or wrong with the first 3 picks. I will admit I was furious when we lost out on Davis, but having slept on it, and thinking as a logical fan of the Bobcats, we have a lot of options. A trade with Portland is a possibility. There is the Cho connection AND we have their first rounder next year. MKG really isn't a bad consolation prize either.

Listening to Dan Patrick right now w/ Anthony Davis being interviewed

1. Davis said it was a Charlotte hornets hat he was wearing

2. Grew up a bulls & mj fan

3. His family is upset, especially his mother, that he will not be playing in Charlotte. He has many friends here( how he got the hornets hat) and has family here. Wanted to play for MJ.

4. Dan Patrick said it sounded like Davis was dissapointed he won't be playing for his idol in Charlotte

Man this has got to make it "sting" even more. What could of been.

PS like I said if you are a fan of the rebrand, not getting Davis was probably the best thing to happen for us.

Give me Davis over the re-brand 7 days out of the week.

Hell, Kobe made it clear he wanted to play in a big market, maybe Davis will make it clear he wants to play in Charlotte and we broker a deal? I know, I know. Dream in one hand and sh*t in another.

MKG, Beal, or Robinson

Drummond looked like an un-touchable, but has been playing well late. He has all the talent in the world, but I'm not too sure if he is motivated.

I personally want MKG. Bobcats need a couple things, two of them being: SF and toughness. This guy provides both.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
