NFL.com's Jamie Dukes Says Cam Has the Most to Prove of All Sophomores

Not bad points, but I dunno about the "no one wanted to draft him but Carolina" part. The Bills were supposedly very interested and going to take him if we didn't. I'm sure there's a few other teams that would have taken him in the first if he were available. And I don't think "him being from the South so he's more likely to sell tickets" had anything to do with it either.

They did not draft Cam to sell tickets. They drafted him to win games. That's what GM's and coaches care about. Winning.

What sells tickets? Winning.

Amazing, that Jamie Dukes somehow waddled pass security and didn't start blabbering into every conversation in our building where our front office was looking at Cam from every anlge. I didn't know he was in the interviews where Chud and Shula both came out saying the kid could run a pro style offense. I didn't know Jamie took notes on Rivera's opening press conference in stating the importance of a franchise quarterback.

Our franchise took Cam Newton to selll tickets by winning games. They knew it was a risk, but a calculated one and it payed off. Maybe the Falcons homer should do his research before blabbering his mouth and give credit where it is due.

    • I think we are looking at the same stats, I think you just have pro-Bryce goggles on.  That seems to be pretty clear by the post history, anyway.  Not really sure how or why anyone would still be in that camp, but carry on.
    • I would argue their play during their respective seasons was elite, and they elevated those around them.  Regardless of what they became after that moment.
    • Right team, wrong year and player. Since the 2003 season, there are only 2 SB winning QB's who won't end up in the HOF (Hurts not included as I think that's still up in the air), would be Flacco and Foles. The next worst QB to win in that time frame would be Eli, followed by Wilson, and then Big Ben. The other SB winning QB's since then... Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees... basically some of the best to ever play the game and Stafford, a surefire HOFer after winning his SB. You have to go back to the 2002 season to find a truly average QB to have won the SB with Brad Johnson and then 2 years before that with Dilfer.  Before that, you have to go all the way back to the 1991 season when the Redskins won, everyone else between there are HOFers.
