Predict this year's record!

With all due respect, were not Tampa, we are a better team than them. In 2010 their wins were inflated, by playing the NFC West and a struggling Panther team that had the worse offense in franchise history. Only good team they beat that year was the Saints** wk 17, they swept a weak NFC West, a 4-12 Bengals, 5-11 Browns, 6-10 Skins.

How is that different from what the Panthers did last season? They beat a handful of piss poor teams and one playoff team who was on their 3rd quaterback. People are saying the Panthers are a playoff team this season. I don't see it, not with their DL and DB's. I think the rest of the NFC South has improved while the Panthers added a......fullback.

well that explains a lot.

if you would have read his posts about cam this time last year you'd be laughing in his face over his griffin rhetoric like me. don't confuse being a homer for another team with some kind of sage-like perspective on things just because he thinks cam newton sucks. i mean you tore apart his post and he didn't even respond.

there are good "other team" posters here but grits ain't it dude.

I have other things going on.

And i never said Cam sucked. Your eyes are playing tricks.

the panthers aren't a playoff team but it's not because they "didn't beat anyone" which was your original premise with the bucs comparison:

I remember people hyping Tampa last season. As i recall i said Tampa beat absolutely no one the season before and it was all smoke and mirrors. Guess i was right, again.

that's an unbelievably shitty argument because any team that ever played a last place schedule and picked up some wins should thus be doomed for failure forever. also it's hardly a bold prediction to say that the bucs are going to be poo because they've sucked with one or two exceptions since 2002.

LONDON67'S BOLD PREDICTIONS FOR 2012:

-the browns will have a losing season

-the dolphins will finish last in the afc east

-detroit misses the playoffs

-a quarterback will attempt a pass

again, the bengals are your AFC super bowl pick yet their 2011 was almost exactly the same as carolina's. beat up on a bunch of shitty teams and lost to the good ones, often in horrible fashion including two games against the team starting "their third quarterback" that apparently sucks because the panthers beat them and as such it shouldn't count.

the difference is that I feel we may have loss against playoff caliber teams, but we played them damn close damn near to the end. Also the Bucs didn't have their main guys on DEF on IR, with a new rookie HC after a locked out season, starting a rookie QB. that 10-6 team was Morris second year.

That fullback is a beast and adds to an already very good offense.

The DEF will get better, I have faith in what RR is doing, with a full offseason, and with the key additions we have added, that defense will look nothing like it did last year. Our Dline played better the last 6 games, minus the Saints* game ( they do have a dominate O line),

Only thing Im worried about is the DB position, but with a better pass rush, and hopefully LBers that can actually drop and cover, will help out in the pass DEF ( Beason and Luke), a lot of those big plays that we gave up through the air was on short crossing routes, screens and play action ( that fooled the LBers and SS/FS).

Rivera wasn't able to field a DEF and have them learn the system on such a short offseason, but he has that now.

I know Im all over the place but I'm watching the Finals.

the DL was nothing to write home about of course but the linebacker play was atrocious as well more often than not.

i mean how many times did the falcons kill us on the same stretch play that they knew connor couldn't beat them to the edge on? watching that game again there were multiple occasions where turner, mughelli, and snelling ran into a crowd of linebackers and broke free into the secondary. that's not going to be happening with beason and kuechly on the field. like it wasn't even that they were trying to shed blocks and make a play - more like a back ran straight into them and just rolled through.

our safeties are pretty bad but putting even an adequate corner across from gamble would make a big difference in pass D. gamble was easily top five in the entire league per PFF while munnerlyn was literally the second worst CB in the entire league according to the same source.

again i can't sing the praises of this article enough. really sheds some light on things:

Last year we were 1-7 in games decided by 7 or fewer points. With an improved defense just by getting injured people back and with time to actually install the defense you could assume we would have split these games. That would have given us a 9-7 record last year. So the idea that we could win 9 games this year and contend for the division is surely not far fetched even with the schedule. Will we? Too early to say.....

I always go into the season expecting a perfect season. I know it won't happen, (I'm not stupid) but to not expect them to win somehow spoils the fun of fandom. I'll be happy with a big improvement and reason to look to the future...

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
