Our inability to beat the Falcons

For me, it was our consistent inability to stop any opponents TE in the middle of the field. Tony G. is a big target with great hands. He is in Matt Ryan's wheel house only needing to throw it 7-12 yards and move the sticks. If we have addressed that soft middle with Keuchly and a healthy Beason, not to mention possibly Nakamura or a more ferocious secondary, the tides may turn this year.

We owe those dirty fugs some ass whippings, and they're coming.

I hate those dirty birds almost as much as I hate the Saints*. Even though we beat TB into the ground all the time, I still hate them the most. That alignment to NFC South started fierce with the Panthers vs Bucs rivalry.

It's really no mystery. Lately, they have been the better team.

If we are an up-and-coming team like most of us think, we'll get our share of victories against them.

They don't have any kind of magical formula.

Pretty much. They have a lot of mismatches against us, hopefully we will tighten up this yr.

Every team has talent and ATL is just the same. One thing they dont have is Cam and a pissed off LB core coming into this year. Think Turner is gonna run over Beason a Luke like they did our 4th stringers.... I dont think so.

this. our linebacking corps will take the edge off of the threat of receiving tight ends, and moreover we will have the personnel to run the style of defense mcdermott employs - namely heavily blitzing from the linebacking position to create pressure. our defense will improve dramatically, and that's effectively what gave away half of our games last year, falcons included.

teams go through dominating streaks within the division all the time. after vick left atlanta we kicked their asses for a couple of years until they hit the reset button and managed to build something offensively. we are on the upswing with a franchise quarterback to build around. meanwhile atlanta's playmakers of the last couple of years are on the downswing. turner is getting old, defenses have largely figured matt ryan out, and that defense is going to be average until they adequately address defensive line problems.

i'll be shocked if we don't split with them this year at the very least.

The past couple of years they've had our number because in 2010 we were horrible and everyone had our number and last year our defense couldn't stop anyone. Losing Beason was to our defense what losing Manning was to the Colts' offense (to a slightly lesser degree). The two years prior to that we split with them, so it's not like they've been smashing us forever, just the past couple of years have been rough over all.

even at that...didn't we almost come away with the win, even with clausen? it was at the very least close and not the blowout implied seems to be happening on a continual basis.
