Whats the deal with Cam charging for Autographs today?

Back on topic: apparently Eli manning is doing a private autograph signing next week, and is charging $600 for a pair of autographed cleats (among other things) with no mention of proceeds going to charity. This is a guy who signed a 100 million dollar contract, making much more than cam. Why aren't there articles ripping him for his greed?

I don't understand all the criticism. It doesn't make Cam a bad guy. Hell, i'm going Saturday to get a 16x20 signed and i'm happy to get to shake his hand, wish him luck this season, and frame the photo for my man cave. I've loved collecting autographs of Panther players since I was a kid and i'm 22 now. There are some of us that are older and still have good intentions when it comes to getting autographs. It's gonna look great next to my smitty and beason photos.

Blame your UNC alum hero Scott Fowler for starting the fire....

I

Not a Scott Fowler fan and I've stated that it bugs me a little that the trolls story has been getting some looks nationally.

He's a big reason the observer is what it is.

Fowler comes across as a nice guy with character and integrity, but I think deep down he's a weasel looking to stir the pot.

I know one thing, if I'm Cam Newton and this kind of small town mentality bullsh*t keeps up, I'm getting the hell out of Charlotte when my contract is up. The stuff people sweat in this town is frigging unbelievable. Enjoy Cam while he is here folks, because this town is going to turn the screws on small things like this until he has enough and bolts. I won't blame him one bit.

I'll say it again..............don't charge for your autograph.

he should fire his entire PR staff and just hire you

there are a lot of dipshits in this fanbase whose ideal quarterback fits neatly in the jake/matt moore "aw shucks i just want to help the team" archetype regardless of what they actually do in a game situation. i guarantee we'd still be rolling out jake delhomme in a wheelchair if these people were in charge. either that or we'd have hitched our wagon to another small school late rounder/undrafted scrub who plays with "grit" and "moxie" while going 10/24 for 120 yards and three picks.

a guy like cam newton who, as far as anyone knows, does things and behaves in a way quite similar to other star quarterbacks doesn't fit that mold and as such we have an entire legion of people with a built-in distrust and/or dislike of anything he does. he can't take a poo without someone calling him "selfish" or making some other such inane charge. read the comments on the original disturber article-just loads of dumbasses whining about this or that.

Cam Newton a Dallas Cowboy in 2016 because Charlotte sucks as a sports town. He will never catch a break in this town. He will either catch it from crybaby Panther fans or the droves of opposing fans that live in this city and hate the home team.

    • If Reich or Fitterer were still around I think the need to extend Young because of what he cost would be stronger.  And yeah Morgan was Fit's right hand when the call was made but there an equal chance that Dan will see it as a chance to move on from Fit and shake off that stink. Holding out some hope that 3 years and clear eyes will allow for an honest appraisal that Young just aint the guy
    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
