Whats the deal with Cam charging for Autographs today?

This truly is a non story and is just the media looking for something to talk about. Just a testament to how polarizing Cam is as a player & individual.

If this was about Matt Ryan or Carson Palmer, it would have as much interest to us as the ladies have interest in X-Clowns bedroom: zero

just like cam newton was the first college athlete to be embroiled in a pay-for-play scandal, he's also the first pro in recorded history to sign up with a memorabilia company that charges for autographs. what a douchebag we have on our hands here.

Let's take that $175 for a signed jersey. If you just randomly got a jersey signed by somebody and then wanted to get some form of official certification for that signature, then you're looking at about $100 for the jersey (according to the nfl.com shop for a well known player) and then another $25-50 for certification. So for an extra $50 or so, you get the garauntee of the autograph and instant certification of it's authenticity, plus a meet and greet and possible photo-op with the player.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Yeah and you know it's real. It's something you can pass along to your kids and know with out a doubt it's authentic.

There's so much fake crap floating around its almost worth it if you want to know for sure. I saw some thing on 60 mins or Real SPorts or something about how all these people had bought all this autographed stuff and it was all fake. One of the guys on the show was devastated when he found out the Mickey mantle and Yankees stuff he wanted to pass on to his children was forged.

I wouldn't drop $200 on a sig but not gonna tell some other man how to spend his money

Which PFT commenter did you lift that knee slapper from? Or did you go high brow and steal it from an observer post? Maybe try bleacher report or ESPN next time.

Back on topic: apparently Eli manning is doing a private autograph signing next week, and is charging $600 for a pair of autographed cleats (among other things) with no mention of proceeds going to charity. This is a guy who signed a 100 million dollar contract, making much more than cam. Why aren't there articles ripping him for his greed?

    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
    • It is hard not to feel hopeless. There is some hope buried behind a hopeless wall but the hopeless wall is thick.  Going off of the last two games I don’t see how we win.  Team looked utterly defeated on Thursday, kinda like the Leafs did when the Panthers tied the series 2-2, and we all know how that ended.  I hope for the best. I will at least turn on the game for a little while.
