Dog Poop?

Can someone please explain to me why it is necessary to pickup your dogs poop?

I grew up when you simply watched out for it, and sometimes stepped/fell into dog poop. It'd be interesting if someone could provide an educational explanation devoid of emotion or personal opinion.

If my dog poops in the woods, or another area that people are likely not to go, I don't worry with it... but if he poops in someones yard or somewhere (like the park, etc.) I pick it up out of simple courtesy to others.

I've seen people let their dog poo in the middle of the path at the park and just leave it. Those people are assholes.

I think you answered your own question.

I just fuging love the idea that we take a completely biodegradable substance that left alone in the sun and rain will be gone in a matter of days or at most weeks and encase in it plastic to bury it in a landfill where it will remain in that state for hundreds if not thousands of years. Even if your one of the "good guys" and you buy the biodegradable poop bags those overwhelmingly end up in regular old plastic garbage bags that do not decomposed when buried.

So next time you think you're doing us a favor by picking up your dogs poo, don't. Do us a real favor and train your dog to poo in your yard.

A reason I read that makes sense when you think about it is....the concentration of dogs in any city is anything but "natural". How many dogs do you think are in Charlotte? All that poop lying around. Therefore the amount of contaminants from poop running off into streams etc is magnified much higher that you'd have if "natural" conditions existed.

I flush my dogs poop down the toilet using biodegradable bags.

depends on location as many have indicated. there's a small park across the street from our condo that has plastic bags for poop. a lot of children play in that park, and i wouldn't want my child playing your dog's poop. same goes for the flowers/bushes around our condo building, which residents seem to think are for their dog. our maintenance crew tends those flower beds/bushes/plantings daily, and i imagine it's pretty damn disgusting to be on your hands and knees in with poop all around you. i agree there's no need up nature's fertilizer from your own yard or some place where people are not likely to encounter it, but i loathe those who just let their dog's crap all over the place with no regard for their neighbors.

Not everyone that has dogs has a yard, which is why most people that walk their dogs do so. I, for instance, have two dogs and I currently live in a condo - No yard. My complex will fine me 50 bucks per dog poo that I don't pick up and after three fines I get evicted, so there's that as well.

    • To all the analysts who said "Caps in 5", thank you for telling us their departure time.
    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
