Amini to replace otah?

This isn't a ground and pound offense.

T are going to need to be able to hold there own against pass rushers.

I doubt Rivera have everything written in stone. Rookie should be the LG and someone, potentially Bell, should be the RT has been the suggested approach.

But nothing is set in stone yet. We also signed the G from the Colts who no one talks about. Bell IMO also looks to be more G than T. OL could be a more fluid situation than some may suggest. A possibility at least...

Amini is a guard.

Maybe.

Was a LT in college and no one has seen him play a snap at G with Carolina. Offensive lineman generally tend to be played with more than any other spot. Crazier things have occured.

You should give him more credit. He anchored one of the top rushing teams in the NFL last season as an undrafted rookie. He wasn't perfect but he has now had a full season of game experience to learn from.

How is the worst player on the line the anchor?

He was a LT but RR wants him to be our LG. Hurney drafted the kid to play LG. they wanted their Mike Iupati.

Our OLINE is better off having Amini at LG and Bell at RT. If Amini is move to RT, then who plays LG? It's too much too try shuffling guys around at this point. RR knows what he wanted to do when he drafted Amini that high in the 2nd. I'm sure they knew early on that Otah wasn't going to be a part of this team.

Just bc it was reported on tv doesn't mean they knows anything. RR knows more than those reporters.

I am not saying it happens, just playing devils advocate.

We know where they hope Armini fits but with the OL it can always change. Bell could fit better at G, Armini may be the best athlete and can handle the pass blocking demands of this offense better than the other guys at RT.....

We acquired Mike Pollack....who started 41 games for Indy at G. No one mentions him as a potential guy to be in the mix at G.

Also, of Armini picks things up well and is a stud....not unthinkable he could replace Gross one day. So his role not be to be inked in as the long term LG anyway

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
