Here is why I think the Panthers will go 9-7 at best

Recommended Posts

hp i agree with you! i dont know if we will go 9-7 but i am not in the boat of thinking we wil be 12-4. Every one thinks that all of a sudden we are a elite team because we went 12-4 last year beating up perrenial losers. THis year we will be playing teams thay have won consistently. that is the difference between this year and last year, also last year we were mostly injury free.

It's a good thing that we have DC that knows New England pretty well since Indy and NE usually meet in the playoffs every year.

This is an advantage that shouldn't be overlooked. The Colts faced most of the AFC powerhouses every year during his tenure, and his knowledge should help us when we face the tough AFC East teams.

With these crazy prediction threads you only have two choices between pessimistic and optimistic. It's impossible to be realistic as we have no information to make any accurate judgements on.

I'd be really curious to see what your predictions were for the 2008 cardinals. Or the 2008 panthers, I bet you were pessimistic back then too.

I don't understand the point of being a fan, (especially to the extent that you would join a message board) if you're going to predict doom and gloom for the division winner 4-5 months before the season starts. I think you like being a party pooper.

But you do bring a valid point that all of our losses came against top teams

Everything depends on how well Delhomme bounces back from that play off disaster. If he starts worrying too much about throwing INT's, we're in trouble. If he can put that last game behind him and play loose like he did in 03, the Panthers will be fine, because I believe the defense and running game will be solid again. In fact, there is no reason why the running game can't be even better, since we had two first time starters on that O-line last year (Otah and Kalil).

Yeah, he did a good job of pissing on the whole last season and trying to piss on the next one, too. Ha ha
this is the third thread that he has made to tell everyone that the panthers aren't going to do well next year.

anyone notice a trend?

happy panther fan = LBF

I think that the defense will be top 10, and that our run game is going to be by far the best in the entire league. I wouldnt be surprised if both D-Will and Stewart have over 1000 yards, and put up 30 plus TD's again. If that happens, all Jake needs to do is manage the game, and make the occasional big play to Smitty when need be. I think that he is very very capable of doing that.

I say 11-5 or better....

    • Totally.  I'm less comparing them as players and using him as a reference point.  I legitimately think Bryce is capable of being a better NFL QB than Kyler has been.  Kyler has no clutch gene and doesn't seem to have a grip on the locker room, or much love for the game.  Much different body types/strengths and weaknesses.   Crazy to think-- but Kyler is at year 7 as a 1.01...38-48-1 on his career, 0-1 in the playoffs. He's somehow played well enough to keep it going but crazy to think he's barely even touched the playoffs.  Hasn't done anything that special for the Cards.  That's what you don't want to be stuck in.  Cardinals are in softball purgatory with him.
    • It's not analysis. There was no attempt to analyze anything or even convey new information at all.
    • As to the topic, I've complained before about "superstar" mentality, i.e. the notion that you can win championships with one superstar player surrounded by a group of mediocre fill ins. It just doesn't work. The Manning-Brady rivalry was something of a showcase for that. The Colts general approach focused everything on Manning. The Patriots? Oh, they also had a superstar quarterback but they built a complete team, especially on the defensive side. This sort of thing is why I've argued many times that "system quarterback" should be to considered a description, not an insult. I know everybody loves the "MVP" athletic types, and they're fun to watch, but that's not necessarily the true path to consistent winning and championship glory.
