Carolina Panthers 2012 Prediction

There have been tons of predictions in scattered threads, perhaps there is one thread to rule them all. Post your one bold prediction for 2012, here is mine:

Coach Riveria has said he wanted a ‘scat-back’ type option in his backfield and he has acquired that back in the form of 5-9 245lb running back/fullback Mike Tolbert.

Mike Tolbert will be heavily utilized in a variety of offensive packages and combine for a total of 800 yards rushing and passing along with 6 TDs.

i don't think he said he wanted a "scat back". i think that was our interpretation of what he said when he said he would like to have someone like sproles.

sproles is a scat back, but that isn't all he is. he is essentially a dangerous jack of all trades who can be lined up anywhere and can do anything and can be a threat on offense and special teams. i think that was what he wanted and what he got with tolbert.

Well, I might argue the Tolbert prediction isn't that bold considering what we did last year and how he fits in this offense. That seems to be pretty realistic production from him....and less than what he has done in recent years in Norv's offense.

Bold prediction - Luke Keuchly is 2nd in sacks for Carolina this year. I expect the LBs to be heavily used in pressure this year....he doesn't have the college stats to support it but I think Rivera goes after teams with LBs this year like we haven't seen.....and Luke's great instincts and underrated skill set will make him a prime tool

Bold Prediction: Brandon LaFell will top 1000 yards and have at least 5 TD's. I think he has become a legitimate #2 receiver, and he is in a great spot to put up numbers considering with our offense he will almost always see single coverage.

Bold prediction #2: The Panthers collectively will surpass 2500 yards rushing the ball.

Bold prediction #3: Joe Adams will score at least 2 punt return TD's.

Bold prediction #4: Charles Johnson will return to double digit sacks.

Bold prediction #5: Thomas Davis will stay healthy (really hope so).

I think:

Thomas Davis is on IR by the BYE.

J-Stew has a monster contract year.

Tolbert has a better year statistically than DeAngelo.

Keisel has a better year than Hardy.

Armanti Edwards is finally released during TC.

Hope you're wrong on TD, but certainly realistic

Agree on Stewart

I think Deangelo will have a higher YPC but Tolbert may get more total touches

I doubt Keiser will have a better year than Hardy who will start

Armanti is definitely a goner (barring injuries, I expect the Panthers will keep Smitty, LaFell, Murphy, Gettis, Pilares, Adams). Some of the other guys with 2 years or under (Darvin Adams, Jered Green, etc. will be on the PS)

Holy fail. Nice job correcting someone, and still spelling it wrong.

Whoa there over achiever... The OP specifically asked for ONE bold prediction. Let me show you how it's done.

We will go 5-1 in our division this year...the 1 loss coming in a meaningless week 17 matchup with the Saints*** (Pickles will start, so we'll lose that one)

True but with out loaded backfield PLUS Cam, I think this would be excellent production from Tolbert. What can I say, I'm a Tolbert Report fan.

[EDIT: didn't pay attention to the 'one' in the OP. so....if i had one bold prediction to make

running game breaks 3000 yards and passing game breaks 4000 again. 7000+ yards total offense

other bold predictions...

defense top 10

panthers win division

more realistic...

defense top 15

running game breaks 2500 yards

passing game breaks 4000 again

cam throws 30 TDs, less than 15 INTs, rushes for 5 TDs

stewart re-signed

CJ and hardy double digit sacks

keuchly wins DROY

    • As the demand for apartments grows parking is becoming limited and it’s sad. I use to tailgate but I just park at uncc deck now and train in and head to rhino market. My tailgate grill hates me.
    • It simply depends on perspective. CMC, when healthy and on the field, has a higher YPC and YPR than LT. Yes, he's been injury prone, but this is simply a "all quarter-century team." There are certainly different stats and different lists. If this were a list or about a team simply based on longevity, then of course LT wins that every time, but some lists are more subjective and nuanced depending upon what they are, and it's not necessarily a reflection upon a person's ability to analyze sports.
    • From my what I have seen the overwhelming majority of people who are considering the notion a possibility don't really want to see it happen but are considering so for a number of reasons. Most importantly availability. Secondly even when he plays the last few seasons he has been red hot or ice cold. Then there is the subject of his defense which to say the least leaves a lot to be desired. Then there is the image of Ball inactive laughing it up on the sideline (while our team was getting the doors blown off) with previous busts who are now relegated to hanging on by a thread in the g league. I think we should be able to recognize with the team going out of their way to put a very strong emphasis on culture and leadership with the conclusion of this years draft that they expect LaMelo to lead the way this upcoming season and that begins with making significant strides and trending in a positive direction in the aforementioned aspects above. It just has to happen.
