Rivera's Remarks: Ailing Cornerback's

Recommended Posts

I think we are all anxious for Norman to step into the starting role. It's not happening fast enough for anyone. I don't have a problem if Hogan or Butler takes the starting role, but we can't have Capt. in the CB2 role. Everyone feels the pressure of solidifying this critical position. Interestingly, the situation at safety is less of an issue. It seemed to me like both safety positions would be up for grabs at the end of last season, esp. Martin. Now it seems like the old depth chart is still in effect.

I agree but that so much to place on a 5th round draft pick.He has the attitude for it but you know good and well teams will be throwing at him.Now he has a tweaked hammy when he needs every rep he can get. I have little faith that Hogan has the fortitude to be a starting cb.

At safety we have done little to improve and feel our secondary will be our Achilles heel.

I had mentioned this before but I had a player said he questioned Hogans work ethic over a month ago.

I would be concerned to if two guys you are counting on at our weakest position go down in the 1st week.

Yes and it wasn't like it was an unreliable player. It was Jordan Gross that questioned his work ethic and attitude. Wish I could find that excerpt, but I know exactly what you are referring too.

According to reed its his hamstring but in the interview RR says he tweaked his knee.

Hogan was on FNZ this morning and said it was his bad knee. Swelling. Not good.

it was reported his knee had swelling a month or two back.. I wasn't even sure if he was practicing until the other day.

and some of you should gain some perspective before you throw guys under the bus..

Damn OP, all he said was he's sore because he's not "used to this kind of work", not he isn't working hard, or he's been late, or he got arrested, he said he's SORE!

Would he have been practicing AND WORKING HARD TO INEVITABLY BECOME SORE if he couldn't play...damn? I hate this time of year, everyone turns into a damn NFL analyst and starts quoting my girls, ex baby daddy, cousin, who went to the same school as 'x-player' knows a chick he slept with whoever and said he should've recovered by now.

^^^ Fixed. This is my take. Soft tissue injuries are a bitch. Why some get these and others don't is for someone else to explain.

I don't ever remember Barry Sanders having a hamstring injury.

GD-it stretch before practice!! We can't have any excuses this year.

OH MAH GAWD HE PULLED A MUSCLE GAIS CUT HIM HEZ DUN FOR GUD

Not saying that's you but many fans seem to have this reaction.

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
