I find this article by Mike Florio pretty funny.

I hate to even say this, as so many excuses are built into your counter argument already..

Pats - Superbowl

GB- Playoffs

Atlanta - Playoffs

Panthers - 6-10

Are you serious with this?

We had a rookie QB, and an awful/injured defense. Oh yeah, those were veteran teams that weren't as affected by the lockout.

All I am saying, is give this unit a chance.

You know Chud is not stupid, so if he felt like he needed more receivers or tight ends, he probably would have gotten it instead of Tolbert.

GB had an equally bad Defense, Atlanta was pretty average., Pats D horrible as well.

They do have however a ton of WR talent and average and or aging running backs.

I haven't written them off.

I think we can have very good success pounding the rock when Defense trot out the 3rd and 4th DB b/c they have no earthly idea what Chud is going to do next. I also believe such can be done cheaper and more efficiently cap wise.

People are getting really emotional over a Running Back.

What an a hole. You do realize he takes TD dance request on Facebook, right? Right!?

You take DWill out of this offense and the running game loses its homerun threat. Stewart is great, but hes more likely to run you over than break one 60 yards. Both guys would be 1500 yard 10 + TD guys, if they were the feature back...but in our situation the sum is definitely greater than the individual parts.

Yeah, Cam Newton and Stewart can't break off a 60 yarder can they....

Yes, Williams is the most explosive pure runner. But in this offense he doesn't have the reps to be worth the investment (yeah a lot of that is hindsight but it is still true)

Why does the OP think that we're who florio is talking about.

New Orleans has 4-5 good backs and they can't keep all of them.

Other teams appear to be hoarding them as well.

Bc none of them are a Dwill or Stew, and also Stew is in his contract year. SD and Norv needs to win now, not next year or he'll be either calling plays only as an OC or calling it from the couch at home. So do you think its smart on Norv's term to go and make a trade for a mediocre back in Chris Ivory? Bc I sure doesnt see NO parting way with Mark Ingram, Sproles, or Thomas and they just signed Thomas not long ago to an extension. You could make a case for Thomas, but Thomas is no Stew if Stew gets the chance to be a feature back. If not Stew then they mind as well run it with Ronnie Brown, but best part on Chargers' side is to go and sign Benson.

I say we:

Pay Stewart the same contract as DWill.

Extend Thomas Davis.

Draft another linebacker to play in the 43 next year with our top spot.

Keep Captain at the no. 2 CB position.

Count on Edwards to be a stellar DT next year.

And last but not least make sure that we can run the ball effectively in a passing league, with a top arm talent at QB.

6-10.....but hey it's better than the Jags.

    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
