Very interesting takes on the 53. It's a give and take on a few... I'll reserve comment till at least before or after the 3rd Preseason game.

I'm reserving my comments until after the final 53-man roster is released so I can claim to have been right all along and point out all the idiots in this thread.

No more mention of Gettis getting cut, kthx

One thing to keep in mind while filling out rosters...while Neblett counts as part of our 90 man roster and the 75 man roster after 1st cuts, he will not count against the 53 while serving his suspension.

So assuming he would have made the 53, we'll have 4 weeks to maybe try out one of the rookie DT's, and then put them on the practice squad when Neblett returns.

Players can be active in up to 6 games without losing their PS eligibility. So maybe Chandler or Van Bergen have a chance after all.

Another option...maybe Armanti makes the 53 at the beginning of the season to make sure he's available should Joe Adams really struggle in the first 4 games. A bit of insurance if you will.

There are a number of possibilities. One that doesn't seem likely would be keeping Mare long enough to see how Medlock does in real games. Reason? He carries a high salary, and that salary would be guaranteed for the full year even if we cut him after week 4.

Lots of fun scenarios to think about...

You can choose to reserve your comments until after the final 53 if you think it's going to make you feel smarter. This is a Forum, people give their opinions/comments, but it doesn't make them any more of an idiot than your comments make you an idiot.

Even if he doesn't, we could go in with 52 guys until he comes back

      This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.

      None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
