Wow, Nortman is only avg 39.8. I know that he's supposed to have very good hangtime, but dang...39.8

Nortman only punted 5 times. 2 of them were for 47 yards. 2 of them were for 30 and 36 yards because he was trying to pin TB inside their 20, which he did. They fair caught one at their 8 yard line and we downed one at their 6 yard line (inside-20 percentage of 40). His net average does not tell the whole story. He only had one weak punt which traveled only 39 yards. He played pretty well last week.

That's really good to know. Unfortunately I missed the game and the channel I recorded it on said that it was blocked out, so the only thing I've seen is highlights. Thanks for the info...

Punters can't win games but they sure can lose them. Ask the Giants. I would not want to make this decision.

I would have to disagree with you. Do you remember the (12-4) Colts against the (8-8) Chargers in the 2009 playoffs? Chargers won that game because Mike Scifres pinned them 5 times inside the 10 and 2 of those were inside the 5. The best field position the Colts had started from was from their own 19 yard line and its worst was at the 1. This was clearly the reason why the Chargers upset the Colts. So punters can win games. Did you also get the chance to see Andy Lee's punts against the Saints** during the playoffs last year?? It's a huge advantage to have a good punter.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
