How Big Of A Disadvantage Is It To Play A 'New' Head Coach In The Season Opener?

This game concerns me only when I think of our preseason game against the Dolphins and all the hype about Schiano being a very disciplined Head Coach. Makes me think that the Bucs might be able to find a way to beat us if we lose the penalty battle.

Then I remember all the trouble Ol' Greg had finding Offensive and Defensive coordinators, how cut Bucs have been speaking out about his coaching style, and the joke that was the Bucs D last year, and I don't feel as worried anymore.

I think their weapons on offense can take advantage of Carolinas weaknesses on the defensive side of the ball provided Freeman is the player some think he is. I don't have much faith in Freeman at all but we'll see. Its a far more dangerous game than most Panther fans are giving credit to. The element of surprise could lead to a few Tampa victories early in the season. Tampa is in a much better situation this year with a new head coach than Carolina was last season.

If Dwan Edwards provide a rush from the inside, I believe that can alleviate the secondary problems immensely.

Honestly believe that will happen and both edwards will make the secondary look good. The front 7 look good on paper right now.

not that big of a disadvantage. he won't show anything we haven't seen before, and if he does, the team will adjust to it.

the only thing that worries me about this game is their secondary. i think they may be one of the team's strengths despite being godawful last season.

Thats never really been his game has it? 5 sacks in 7 years. I don't see how someone else's recent cast off will turn the tide. He's an ok player but like the other Edwards nothing special.

Look at what Schiano is trying to do which is develop a smashmouth offense which runs it down your throat and throws when they have to throw. Sounds like Fox ball to me. Honestly the Panthers defense has to play against Chud every day. Do you really think Schiano is going to throw too many things we havent seen?

When P55 is this optimistic I think it bodes well for us.

Harbaugh came into the league and smashed opponents, a lot of teams only could go off what he did at Stanford. But the Bucs dont have the talent on the DEF side of the ball that SF had when Harbaugh took over.

Yeah drafted Barron, and got Barber and Talib. But their Dline is good, but injury prone. And I cant see them having anything close to a good LB core.

Only thing that scares me is their offense, with VJ and their running game, it could give us fits......

I wouldnt sleep on the Bucs......

schiano is no harbaugh.

harbaugh was by far he exception to the rule that college level coaches fail as coaches in the NFL. why did he succeed? one word.......experience. he had it on the pro level as a player and as a coach(albeit in a limited capacity in that regard).

he surrounded himself with people who have succeeded at the pro level...esp. in fangio. he also brought wth him key assistant coaches from his time at stanford with that experience so there was that familiarity. he was essentially running a pro-level and pro calibre program on the college level. he knew the league in and out and he's also known and respected as one of the best offensive minds in football.

schiano's known as a nice guy....and not much beyond that. how many pro teams had come to him trying to get him to coach? pretty much just the bucs. and how many coaches had the bucs pursued before going after schiano? it was a lot.

sorry..but harbaugh's success was an anomaly and does nothing to help me gain any kind of new respect for coaches coming from the pro level.

and...as has been pointed out by many....schiano is an old school smashmouth ground and pound ball control mind that has become essentially obsolete in the college game and quickly becoming one in the pro level. he's not known for being particularly creative. he's not known for being progressive minded or al that adaptive as a coach.

not scared not worried. in fact......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...............

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
