2013 Draft Picks

this draft i could see rounds 1&2 both dlineman, mainly to work on our pass rush. a DE and DT, depending on how hardy plays this year.. 5th round if he enters im all for taking the honey badger and trying him at FS, i know he's acorner but he's a ballhawk, this team has immense potential, we just dont need any busts

I dnt think Honey Badger will fall that far. He's a sure 2nd rounder if he enters.

We wont need another receiver until Steve retires. One of Gettis/Lafell/Murphy will break out this year, and one or both of the others will prove to be solid contributors as a #3/#4 option.

Lafell and Murphy are no.2 WR at best. You don't want any of the two having to be your best or no.1 WR. They're not elite.

It's time to really look for a "stud" WR bc Smitty is not getting younger. Every year we say that and it's time to really look for that stud next year. Either in FA with a proven vet or by using the 1st rd on whoever is there when our pick comes by.

I don't know where you got your information about Murphy but he was traded for a 7th round pick. Not a 4th or 5th. We have those.

Leaves us with 5 picks. Still don't know if they will get compensatory picks next year yet. A lot of players left for other teams. So there could be 6 and 7th comp picks.

We traded our 7th for the ST dude from SF.

Murphy is a undisclosed pick that will depend on how he perform for us. Probably going to be a 4-5. We have no 3rd.

Leaves us with: 1, 2, 4, 6?? 4 picks.

Until Steve shows a decline, which he has yet to do, I will stick with him and believe in his as the #1. We should find a replacement when we need one, but right now, we need help in the secondary and the d-line, not at the #1 wide receiver spot.

CB and WR are our two biggest needs. Next is DT, OT, and DE

I'm going with DE, CB, & S in no particular order. But D-line is top priority atm

I still see Kearse making big strides this year especially with a vet at 3-tech to learn with

Ron w/ Fua is fine for me also as long as Edwards stays healthy

We can solve both the Dline and S in the first two rds next year.

Smitty doesn't need to show a decline. His age should be a huge enough reason why we should start grooming a young stud already.

Jerry Rice played at a competitive level for 18 seasons. Steve is about to enter his, what, 11th? Now Rice is obviously an exception, not the rule, but I think to say that Steve is getting too old and we need to be looking for his replacement now is disrespectful to him. I think we'll know when we need to search for his replacement, but he's a #1 right now, and we have a decent core behind him who will suffice as 2, 3, and 4's for now.

Ahhhh yes... The annual (next years draft thread) before the season even kicks off.

I've seen this movie before, it usually never ends well

Not really. He is discussing what we are paying for the players we are adding this year. It is a bit confusing, so this is a thread worth discussing. I think you missed the point. The others who are talking about the drafts in 2013 and 2014 support your post, however. Until the college season has played, they have no idea what the drafts are going to be like. (See Newton, 2010)

    • This is one of my key concerns lost in the sauce that is the neverending conversation about him evading pressure and the OL. Eventually any QB is going to have to step up into the pocket and show the defense they can still beat them even if they get through. We have a limited QB who cannot consistently do this and as such we are relegated to going back and forth about how successful he was at evading pressure but we have little else to write home about. Tyler Shough stepped up into the pocket and made plays despite being pressured and sacked. He's played in about 35 less games than Bryce Young. That is a problem. And isn't just going to go away. The Bucs are going to do the same thing after watching the film.
    • Oh, absolutely! That doesn't absolve the absolute dogshit hockey that the team played in front of him, though. Only Cane that played well tonight was Bradly Nadeau.
    • Thanks for illustrating my point.  No one in the last several pages of this discussion is suggesting we should hang on to him, but anytime someone says anything less than "take him out back and shoot him" you act like they are. That's either you not understanding what you're reading or just being a nimrod because you can't keep up. (I would have said 'or just sh-tposting' but you're way too emotional on this topic for that) Either way, the result is the same 😆
