2014 Fifa World Cup Qualifying

Mesut Ozil had a nice hat trick earlier for Germany. Nice to see him scoring goals, it's the one part of the game he needs to work on. A great assist man, he often ends up with good shots on goal for himself. Madrid has struggled to score goals in a couple of their games this year so it'll be a plus to have Ozil as another scoring threat.

The USA is tied with Jamaica at the moment, a team they most definitely should beat.

Tons of games today as well. I saw some of Russia's destruction of Israel earlier. USA will be in a bad spot if they lose a second time to Jamaica. Should be going all out in that one tonight.

A draw tonight and the bad performances are erased. We will have gotten through our two toughest tests in the first three games and will still be in a qualification spot. That being said, I am expecting a disaster, Mexico is the one in the more dangerous situation.

We have certainly been helped by all other games ending in a tie, hope that continues.

Man that is some hopeful thinking.

I'll take a draw. A 3-1 win would be epic.

It's highly possible. Mexico has all the pressure. They are in Mexico. Team USA has won in the Azteca before. And again, Ochoa, is horrid.

Trust me I'm not feeling good about my teams performance tonight. I just honestly believe team USA has all the momentum and is primed to win tonight.

I'm looking for the Netherlands to rebound from a heart breaking loss in the last World Cup final game to take it all in Brazil. Bit of a weaker qualifying division this time, but at 6-0 with 20 goals for and just 2 against, they are well on their way to show the world that they can....finally...for the love of god...win it all!!!

Cool. One of our players stated that the pressure is on them. It's true.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
