These College Plays

I have no problem using them every blue moon, to throw the defense off when they are not expecting it. Yet don't use college plays as apart of the main offense! For crying out loud, we made the Bucs looked like steel curtain today. Man, I seen Cam make great throws today, he has great pocket sense. It's time we wean him off of this college nonsense, this is the big leagues!

I'm definitely going overboard when I say this, but I don't care. With all these college plays, we might as well had The Golden Calf of Bristol back there behind center. If I was Cam, I would be pretty mad at the amount of college plays in this offense. (This isn't the full pro offense that Derek Anderson ran in cleveland in his probowl year. That same year, Jamal Lewis went for over a thousand yards. Let Cam run that full offense because our runners are severely under used.)

Remember back when the QB would take snaps under center and hand the ball to a running back? Good times. Good times.

Yeah, and I don't have much of a problem with the shotgun, but all these read plays are garbage. I've heard and read articles how DeAngelo and Stewart don't even know if they will get the football in those instances, and it's presented as though its a good thing? Man, you got 5 guys blitzing the o-line, I severely hope my running back will know if he's getting the ball.

They work fine when you have the pieces.

Williams didn't run the zone read last season. Dumb to think it would work today. That isn't what he does. That looked to be Chud's master gameplan though. he should of scrapped that nonsense after the first drive and played to DeAngelo's strengths. when Stewart is back, he can run that bull

Read plays aren't garbage...Stewart and Cam beasted and it helped setup tons of stuff last year as this offense excelled.

They didn't have a zone read RB was the issue. The problem snowballed quick. Those plays shouldn't of been in the gameplan.

Im going that have to agree with CRA on this one. Something must of happen to Stewart last min and there was no time to change the Gameplan. Also the Buc's were expecting it so it made it that much worse. I reality Chud poo the bed a few times last year with play calling and this year he started early. Didnt right the ship fast enough and anyone wondering why he didnt get a HC job just learned why today.

I remember last year that both DeAngelo and Jonathan were in on the read plays. So with Jonathan not able to go, we miss that triple threat action. Yet all in all, I don't mind these plays being in with small samples. Yet it looked like these plays were our main formation all day. Even with Stewart being a great read play back, it doesn't take long for defenses to figure this stuff out. Our main formations should be as though Derek Anderson is at QB, yet have Cam do some of his talents in small fractions.

The spread wasnt working at all, it just gave the dline more time to get past our line...

At least Pilares and Tolbert took there up the gut. Positve gains. Williams? I don't know if it was designed that way or his doing....but doing a horizontal read option defeats the purpose....it was running the read into the DE/T. That doesn't force a D to collapse in on the run. It plays the run into the outside rush. Just odd.

    • And once again I showed you it’s been pretty even. We spent 2nd and 3rd rounders this past draft on edge rushers. No one’s going to sit here and do the math on a draft value chart etc. the only reason I even entertained this was because you said we’ve spent nothing on defense when that simply isn’t true. It also didn’t help we traded our ONLY WR worth a damn to trade up for Bryce soo… And this is kind of the issue with the anti Bryce crowd. This crowd tends to blame him for the trade up. I was team Stroud. Had the panthers not taken Young the only other QB they were going to take was Richardson. So your issue should be with Tepper, Morgan, Fitterer not Bryce.  Bryce is who he is and it was pretty obvious who he was during the draft process. Bryce is slowly developing into that guy most thought he’d be. Give him a WR like Jamo and this offense as a whole would improve greatly.  Anyone thinking he was the next Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen is clearly slow. Bryce was always going to need pieces around him much like EVERY other QB Burrow has Chase and Higgins and they’ve done nothing. After losing in AFC Championship in 2022, Burrow is 17-15. QB’s need a team around them It’s why a Jalen Hurts led Eagles team dismantled a Pat Mahomes led KC team in the SB Imo the QB’s doing the most with the least up until this year have been Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson  This year it’s Drake Maye and Josh Allen  Outside of the 3-5 elite type QB’s I’m not really sure what people expect here. Is Bryce ever going to be in that elite category? Nope. Should we punt on Bryce and keep swinging? I don’t think so. Should we keep swinging while hanging onto Bryce? Yeah but I don’t know what that looks like This team as a whole isn’t very good. Offense and defense and that’s the simple truth
    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
