Luke would have had his first sack if he hadn't been held. Since it was called, as it turns out it was just as good as a sack.

There were some plays by Luke that were not so great. But as others have said, he is a rookie and just played his first game. Give it a little time.

One other comment...I really don't understand the apparent joy some people take because a player they didn't like coming out of the draft didn't have a great game. You claim you are Panthers fans, but I swear some of you would rather see a loss just to say, "look at me, I was right".

He got outjumped by short Doug Martin. 6'7'' big frame Jimmy Graham should be a piece of cake to Clark Kent.

He didn't jump at all, he was running with his back to the ball. Did you just read about the play or listen on the radio?

He's a rookie for fugs sake.

Yep, we ran the ball 13 times. That's not even giving the run a chance.

We ran the ball ONE time on first downs all game while we passed the other 14 first down plays.

Back to the subject, just goes to show most people here have no clue what they are talking about. Please geniuses, trying to dog Kuechley cuz you only know the glamor rolls of LBr's like sacks or turnovers. OP, don't create any more threads this season. Thanks.

Whoever says LBs aren't supposed to take up blocks never played LB apparently. When an Iso comes at an LB, he is usually taught to take on the FB with either inside leverage (spilling, so the back is forced to run outside where another defender is supposed to be) or with outside leverage (forcing the RB to go inside where another defender is responsible for making the tackle. Different teams teach it different ways. The team I play for usually spills while the backside LB runs over top. Same goes for power plays and counters when the LB has to take on a pulling OG or OT.

I like all of our players on some level. I choose to be honest about their talent level instead of a fan who exaggerates the players talent level. See Smith > than Calvin Johnson, or McClain and Fua are fine because they were rookies. If you think your way is better, then fine, but I'm not submitting my beliefs to an asinine circle jerk for the team.

If I was right, and I get feed sugar coated statements from homers about how I am wrong, you bet your ass, I'm going to say I'm right. You want to make statements like McClain and Fua are fine, or Edwards will return punts for Adams then fine. But you will get called out on it. Please notice that I do not say anything drastically out of the realm of realism. Lets see I said Adams will be the punt returner, Fua, McClain arent an answer, we wont have a top 10 D, we have invested enough in RB's and LBers for now, and there isn't a LBer in this league including Kuechly that can cover Graham. I haven't said anything that reality isn't backing up for me.

I've been though this routine enough to know I'm going to get comments about how Richardson should hire fans on their couch, but that isn't the issue. I'm not claiming to be a genius. The stuff I harp on, I consider to be absolutely obvious. I mean are their actually people who think all McClain and Fua needed was time? Please people who watched the tape 5 times tell me how I need to go rewatch the tape to see that one time in the second quarter Fua got double teamed, and we need people who get double teamed.

First of all, my comment wasn't directed specifically at you, it is a tone that I've noticed on occasion from a variety of posters, and I just don't understand it. Say you think someone isn't the answer for us, or that they had a bad game, or don't fit our offense, etc. and most will respect your opinion. It is a matter of style. Case in point...

Kueckly starts his awesome DROY campaign by taking on blockers so someone else can make the tackles.

That just came off to me as kind of flippant, and gloating that he didn't have a great first game.

As to the rest of your comments about McClain and Fua and Edwards etc. you will have to take that up with the people that are strongly in their corner. I have some serious doubts myself, but I am not going to enter threads to say, "see, I was right, these guys are a joke". It's just a matter of style.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
