Team needs

It is blatantly clear that we need a FS. In order of dire need: FS, OT (Byron Bell got abused), OG, DT, DE

Bell did not get abused. Our tackles were the only solid part of the line. Both our guards got kicked in the nuts, however. It was the middle of our line that was failing, not the ends.

The guards played like crap, I'm not denying that, but Byron Bell got manhandled often yesterday. I'm not even a Byron Bell hater, but the pressure from the right side was obvious.

They overloaded to the right, but most of the failure on that side was on Hangartner. Bell didn't whiff on anyone yesterday and only got pushed back into Cam once or twice. At least Bell had his hands on a man in front of him, same can't be said for others on the line.

We need to get better next week. I don't forsee making major personnel changes barring injury; we've got these guys for the long haul this year. We've seen the offense work efficiently earlier in the pre-season, we've seen the defense get stops when it needs to. Creating turnovers should be a point of emphasis in every defensive meeting room. The mental errors that stall drives and stop momentum need to be minimized. But because we're not in a position to do anything significant with our players, I want to see the ones we do have improve week to week.

basically the same needs we had coming into last offseason

Exactly

Ever since last offseason we said our needs were RG, DT, CB, S. And right now they are still needs. It's like Hurney ignores them to spite the fans and pretend like he knows something that any other GM in the league doesn't when really he's just inadequate.

Yeah, I'm going to say that the O-line is going to get one more chance, and then changes will be made.

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
