a few observations from an objective NFL fan

Too Much hero worship. Perhaps Panthers owners, GM, and coaches bought into the Cam Newton hype and forget build a team.

The defense is atrocious. Eli Manning made the D-line and DBs look silly.

The offense prefers to use high school trickery over proven NFL winning techniques. Cam is basically a single-read QB. That may have worked in the SEC, but it will not work in a league where film study never takes a backseat to talent

This team confuses boorish behavior with toughness. Little 89 can yell like a mad man all he wants. At the end of the day he's an aging WR with a Napoleon complex surrounded by a bunch of men who would rather tell you what they are rather than prove it.

This is not a good team. I rate this team slightly above the KC Chiefs.

Cam Newton is far from a single read QB, hilarous to me that people still think of that. I could barely watch the game myself, but even I could tell Newton is still the only highlight of that team with his ability to look off defenders, check down and go through his reads and make difficult throws. 3INTs look horrible when your Defense can't stop a drive and give your offense a chance to have a balanced attack and not continue to play from behind.

You're objective in the same way a constipated turd has a great view of the night sky.

I honestly haven't seen enough panthers games to make a judgement on where Cam is, but the games I have seen (last night and particularly last year's games against the falcons) its been pretty ugly

The defense looks confused. Eli had time to go throw his progressions twice. Don't understand how a team expects to win with Bad DBs and no pass rush. Does not makes sense considering the new HC is suppose to be a defense-first guy.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
