You really think we'd have only 4 WRs? Not bloody likely. I think Larry Beavers makes it as well, and so does Quentin Teal...

Fox only had 3.5 active last year didn't he? Smitty, Moose, Jarrett and then a return man. Plus, the talk around camp is they hope Goodson will play some WR also.

CJ Davis...I think. I see him as a potential hangman replacement
he'll probably have to be working on the practice squad for a while unless he can chase bernadeau or schwartz out of a roster spot. i just don't see how we can keep more than 9 roster spots dedicated to the Oline without sacrificing another well needed roster spot at another position. those two have more experience with the panthers (although it ain't much) and cadogin and sir duke are just too valuable a commodity to put on the practice squad (meaning that they are fair game for any other team).

not having a solid backup for kalil makes me really nervous, though. i could cj davis taking bernadeau's spot, though.

*EDIT* i forgot to mention that our LS will most likely have to be able to fill in at center if needed so that takes some of the pressure off depth at the position.

Pretty sure Hackett was active last year, even if he was injured

he was on the 53 member roster but wasn't always active. you are only allowed to have 45 active players on gameday. hackett and jarrett took turns being active but both were part of the 53 man roster.

It doesn't matter who gets the title of "starter" at LDE because that position is going to be spelled so often. About 3 players will get equal snaps at that position. And I don't think having 5 DEs is such a crime, especially because we tend to stick DEs at the DT spots in our speedy 3rd and long pressure situations.

brayton has a lot more experience and is very good vs. the run. he isn't a liability so i'm thinking that he most likely will be starting. i don't care who it is that starts but the way i see it brayton most likely will be the starter unless johnson or brown really show him up in TC. short of that happening it is brayton's to lose.

as far as keeping 5 at DE...yes. depth on the DL was a huge issue for us last year. one of brayton's biggest assets is that he can fill in at DT or DE as needed so it's almost like having the DT go 6 deep. the Dline needs to be as stacked or moreso than the Oline considering the offenses that we have to face. i would prefer us having 10 on Oline and on the Dline. i think, though that whoever our LS is will have to fill in at center if needed making him the 10th member of the Oline.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
