Game Sunday Reminded Me Of

I think secondary has definitely passed DL at this point. Big Money is Big Money, the Edwards wall is serviceable for a couple of years, and we look to have a real diamond in the rough with Alexander. Our backend, save for Gamble, is pretty shitty. Although I still won't be disappointed if we pick a pass-rushing freak because that's where games are always won - in the trenches.

I'm not sure how serviceable I feel the Edwards wall is, personally. We're getting gashed horribly by pretty much any running back teams care to throw our way. I do think S and CB have leapfrogged DE though.

DT > Seconday (S or CB - depending on Norman's progression) > Whatever else shakes loose as the season progresses

i'd like for us to continue to address DT in FA. i don't think we are fine there, i just don't think we should go out and draft DT...at least not early.

safety is probably the top need and there are a few good big safeties i'd like in the draft next year.

on the whole, i would rather we address needs in FA or via trade (preferably 3rd-7th round draft picks), and just go BPA in the draft.

one way or the other, i don't think we can go without trying to get more help in the secondary, specifically safety. i don't hate godfrey but i really don't like him being our best safety. we need to upgrade both safety starting spots.

Beasons missed tackles have had alot to do with that.

Yes, SAFETY has long been a need.

The lines are always where the game starts and stops, but think about all of the year-in and year-out elite defenses and their safety play - Polamalu, Reed, etc.

We've ignored it long enough. I think CB is solid, but we need to start looking for another starter in another 2-3 years as Gamble's career will be winding down. Outside of that depth at CB is a must. But safety needs a legitimate starter and depth.

I feel we go BPA between DT and S. This is the deepest DT draft in a long time.. there will be 5 DTs in the 1st round... I think it'd be hard to pass up a young athletic DT.. and think we can get a starting FS in the 2nd round.. someone like TJ McDonald from USC or Lester from Alabama.

There is only 1 safety worth taking in the 1st round, and that's Reid from LSU.. chances are, we go DT. I love the DT from Utah.. he is Samoan, and reminds me of Haloti Ngata.

I love the kid from NC State, David Amerson.. I know he is a CB, but he used to play FS, and think he could be an Ed Reed type mid-fielder. He has had like 20 INTs, in college so far.

and no more of this drafting a CB to play safety crap.

draft a safety to play safety. draft a CB to play CB. should be easy enough. no reason to try and out-think everyone.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
