McDermott

People love to bash him.....and did love to praise Chud.

McD is showing adjustments post NYG fiasco. He is calling some decent games. Getting some good production. His D looks to be taking some positive steps. You aren't seeing repetitive status quo. If something blows up on him one week....he is working to fix it.

There were no players last year for him to really survive last year. I think he is showing adjustments week to week this season. Outside of the NYG game....the D has showed up more so than the offense. Guy should get a little credit. He isn't pulling a Chud each week.

Seattle converted way too many 3rd downs today. Oh, and what happened to this "attacking" style defense I've been hearing so much about? We're the least blitzing 4-3 defense in the NFL.

Oh and what coach rotates free safeties throughout a game on defense?

I say all this to say, I blame Rivera for the defense more than I do McDermott. Always have, always will!

Probably a coach that has poo safties.....try to make one good one using the two.

Russel Wilson has the best game of his career, DC gets credit?

Seattle scored 1 TD....DeAngelo gave them the ball at the 27. That was it. Held them to 16 points.

We would have killed for that a year ago....

Well Sherrod showed tonight that he's 10 times better than Nakamura. Even when he was out of place, he was in much better position to make a play than Naka.

Nakamura on the other hand, went back to hiding 30 yards off the ball, and then had the nerve to point fingers at Captain when he was out of position. Nakamura was lined up so far back, Wilson completed a 30yard pass and Naka couldn't even close fast enough to tag the guy down.

Actually Martin was lined up 30 yards off the ball as well, which per Rivera, was a Nakamura thing, that he brought over from the Ravens, but I knew that wasn't the case in the first place.

A lot of those 3rd downs were converted because we were playing 11 on 9, with both safeties lined up on fuging Morehead st.

They line up where they are told to line up. They don't just pick a place on their own.

The defense played pretty well but...

Seahawks rank last in the NFL in passing, and 28th in scoring.

Not exactly a juggernaut.

Their WRs were open all game and often had 5 yards of open space after they caught the pass.

Also a plethora of missed tackles again.

The offense lost the game for us but our defense is still suspect.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
