We are fortunate to have Cam at QB

Recommended Posts

I watched a TON of the rest of the league today. It gave some real perspective. I look around the league, and it's hard to name a QB without lapses in play.

People need to realize that we're so fortunate to have Newton and have a glass of STFU next time he has a poor game like last week against Seattle. I've seen Matt Stafford, Matty "ICE" Ryan, and numerous other "Star" QB have the same game today.

Thus is life in the NFL.

I only agree in the sense that Cam is not the only one at fault for our struggles. But he sure isn't helping much this year either. However, the entire organization seems to be incompetent.

watching the colts earlier today was so much more fun

so pathetic I hate this team with every inch of my soul

Cam is a joke

I will let everyone in on a secret. I just won king Midas' gold. I laid a fortune on Seattle today.

I knew Rivera and company would make me a shitload of money. Glad I did it

I didn't like the vibe I got when I watched Cams press conference from Wednesday. He didn't look good. He was sulky, snotty, bratty. Why? Why not be positive?

You won't go anywhere with that poo. Like we are seeing today, his God awful attitude has bled into his performance today. His rotten attitude bleeds into Sundays. I am a Cam fan, but now I see why people called him a cancer.

He is a hip hop baller with so much god damn baggage. It's brutal. No worry of that with Andrew luck! That's for damn sure.

If he keeps this up I'm no longer calling myself a newton fan

I could go on and on and on, but you get the point.

Regarding Cam vs Luck: it's far too early in either career to know who will be better. They BOTH have every single chance to be a superstar but we're not really gonna know yet. I've also made known before my dislike for comparing players on different teams with different systems one on one. The grass is greener and all that bullshit, I know, but we're not suffering through David Carr over here - we have a potentially long-time game breaking QB here. Don't be so fickle.

About Cam himself? Yes we are lucky to have a player on our team with the ceiling / physical gifts he has at that position. He's having a down start to the year and he does have a lot of things to fix but we could be much worse off than we are. As fans it's our job to complain, what else are we going to do really, but don't lose sight of how much worse it could be.

I do believe that Cam has all the physical skills to be a very good NFL quarterback. Whether we are fortunate to have him depends on how much he improves as he gains experience over the next few years. If he really begins to click over the next couple of years, he is going to be very good. If he is still throwing 1 hoppers to a receiver that is 10 yards away, we are going to be hurting.

Just to be clear, I do think he will improve in that area. :)

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
