New GM options?

why? he's not owed anything. there's no contract. the team is under no obligation to pay him at all.

There might not be a multi-year contract but there is some form of agreement in place. He wasn't working for free.

There is an agreement in place that says they will pay him x per week, or x for the season.

He's not an asst manager at wal-mart pulling down 60k per year to be paid over 26 pay periods. There is some form of agreement in place.

Here's a pretty good write up on up and coming GM candidates:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d825b843b/article/opportunities-present-themselves-for-hot-gm-candidates

The ones that stick out to me are:

Marc Ross - Director of College Scouting, Giants

Russ Ball - VP of Football Administration/Player Finance - Packers

Nick Caserio - Director of Player Personnel - Patriots

Reggie McKenzie - Director of Football Operations - Packers

One thing I want is someone from a successful organization. I don't want some up and comer from some bottom feeder or up and down organization. Get me someone from an organization like the Packers, Steelers, Giants, Patriots, etc. I want someone who has seen how a winning organization works from inside and is used to winning. We need a winner's mentality here. Cam Newton wasn't enough. He had it, but he's stuck in the mire of the Panthers' losing ways right now. We're just too used to losing and we need a coach and GM who aren't and won't accept it.

Must be an old article. Reggie McKenzie is running the Raiders now.

Floyd Reese was the Titans GM during some of their successful years. Last I heard I think he was a consultant somewhere. I'd have to look him up.

He and Richardson might be able to craft a good working relationship. Of course, Reese is also remembered as the guy who drafted Pac Man Jones.

Mark Ross all in!

New York finds the talent and are usually spot on when it comes to free agent hirings. Great front office.
